This is the Angry Systems Administrator. We had a rather annoying technical failure in the Anger Central Entertainment Complex. The Useless Idiot\u2019s DVR hard drive turned into a paperweight and he demanded that I \u201cFix it now!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/islamic-rage-boy.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-37187\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/islamic-rage-boy-300x210.jpg?resize=300%2C210\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"210\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/islamic-rage-boy.jpg?resize=300%2C210&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/islamic-rage-boy.jpg?w=409&amp;ssl=1 409w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The DVR is part of the Dish system we use, and I went through the usual diagnostics. The hard drive was toast. I contacted Dish via their chat system, and the tech on the other end logged into the DVR and confirmed that the hard drive was now a former hard drive. We arranged to ship out a new unit and for me to ship the old one back.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/schadenboner.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-23127\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/schadenboner-246x300.jpg?resize=246%2C300\" alt=\"\" width=\"246\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/schadenboner.jpg?resize=246%2C300&amp;ssl=1 246w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/schadenboner.jpg?w=442&amp;ssl=1 442w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 246px) 100vw, 246px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The estimated time for the new DVR to arrive was Saturday. (The unit croaked at some point Wednesday night Thursday morning when we discovered it malfunctioning) The unit actually arrived on Friday, and I had it up and running within an hour. I wasn\u2019t looking forward to recreating all the custom channel lists, but it seems that at some point the Angry Blowhard actually did something right and backed up the settings.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/shocked-face.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-20636\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/shocked-face-300x225.png?resize=300%2C225\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/shocked-face.png?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/shocked-face.png?w=400&amp;ssl=1 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He did lose all the saved shows however. He wasn\u2019t to happy about that. (There was much shouting, screaming, ranting and raving, with him finally sucking his thumb and crying like a 3 year old) In this case, most of what was lost was just archived shows. There was only one that he hadn\u2019t seen yet and I was able to download it using the On Demand feature. ((The twerp is watching it now)<\/p>\n<p>I will say that Dish was very helpful and the arrival of the replacement unit ahead of the expected day was a pleasant surprise. With today\u2019s supply problems, (Thanks to a certain maladministration), I wouldn\u2019t have been surprised if it took a couple of weeks to get the new one out.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve already shipped the dead unit back using the prepaid label and the box they sent out. They should be getting it in a couple of days.
