Good day all. For decades, Disney was seen as a company that was patriotic and that would produce good wholesome fun for families all over the world. It\u2019s founder, Walt Disney was seen as a genius. Sadly, Walt Disney is gone and those who took over are running Disney into the ground.<\/p>\n

Recently, Disney decided to intrude into Florida politics when the Florida state government slapped down Critical Race Theory and other Progressive bad ideas. At first, Disney\u2019s management stayed out of the controversy. Then a few dozen of their more Woke Moonbat employees walked out and started screaming to the high heavens.<\/p>\n

Instead of telling these moonbats that they were there to work and not engage in politics, Management caved in and attacked the State of Florida. Instead of caving in, Governor Ron DeSantis went on the offensive and hit Disney right where it hurts most, their wallet. The State legislature stripped Disney World of it\u2019s special status, (Basically they were their own local government), and, when it take affect, would force Disney to pay hundreds of millions to the local cities and state in taxes.<\/p>\n

Disney is, of course, fighting this and it\u2019s a year away from going into effect. Still Disney hasn\u2019t learned it\u2019s lesson and is continuing to make demands. Now a bill is being proposed in the senate to overhaul the Copyright system currently in place. (And favoring Disney primarily I believe) Here are the details from Fox News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., is introducing legislation that would strip the Walt Disney Company<\/a> of special copyright protections granted to the corporation by Congress, while also limiting the length of new copyrights.\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

The “Copyright Clause Restoration Act of 2022” would cap the length of copyrights given corporations by Congress to 56 years and retroactively implement this change on companies, including Walt Disney. <\/b><\/p>\n

This is going to hit Disney hard. One of the reasons Disney was so insistent on the changes to the original Copyright system was Mickey Mouse. The copyright on Mickey should have expired decades ago and Mickey would have entered the public domain. Instead, Disney bribed<\/i><\/span> bought<\/i><\/span> donated large campaign donations to members of congress, many of them the old Globalist Chamber of Commerce types and were able to get the law changed. Thanks to the election of the \u201cGreatest President of the 21st<\/sup> Century, and the MAGA King, Donald Trump, the RINO\u2019s are slowly going extinct.<\/p>\n

“The age of Republican handouts to Big Business is over. Thanks to special copyright protections from Congress, woke corporations like Disney have earned billions while increasingly pandering to woke activists. It\u2019s time to take away Disney\u2019s special privileges and open up a new era of creativity and innovation,” Hawley told Fox News Digital in an exclusive statement. <\/b><\/p>\n

According to Hawley’s office, Congress has used an old law, also known as the “Mickey Mouse Protection Act,” in order to extend copyrights to corporations for up to 120 years. Instead of issuing copyright protections to create enough monopoly protection in order to foster innovation, companies are getting handouts from Congress for a much longer period than needed. <\/b><\/p>\n

This is going to hit Disney\u2019s bottom line hard if it passes. They make tons of money from licensing deals. If Mickey Mouse and all of the earlier Disney intellectual properties lose their protection and enter the public domain, Disney might have to actually start coming up with content and ideas that most people want to see.<\/p>\n

The action by Hawley comes after Disney publicly opposed <\/b>Florida’s<\/b><\/u><\/a> new parental rights legislation, which bars instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten through third grade. Those opposed to the legislation, including Disney, have dubbed it the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, saying the law is hurtful to LGBTQ rights and inclusiveness.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Yeah, one small problem. The word \u201cGay\u201d doesn\u2019t appear anywhere in the law, and the Progressives have been mischaracterizing what the law actually says and does. There is also the issue that recently a number of Disney employees were arrested for human trafficking, including children.<\/p>\n

Nearly two dozen Republican lawmakers wrote to Disney CEO Bob Chapek last month, declaring their opposition to renewing the company’s copyright on Mickey Mouse, which is set to expire in 2024.\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

The lawmakers noted in their letter that “the Constitution gives Congress the authority to determine the length of time to protect copyrights. Further, it explicitly states that copyrights may not be permanent. Yet Disney\u2019s long history of lobbying on this issue suggests that is its goal.”\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

As recently as 2015, Disney would have expected to get their extension. Then came the MAGA King, President Donald Trump. He brought with him a number of people that have become fed up with the GOP(e) RINO\u2019s in the Beltway Uniparty constantly selling them out. The remember how Disney laid off all their American workers and brought in H1B Visa holders, then told those they had fired that they were going to train their replacements or Disney was going to give them nothing.<\/p>\n

Now the chances are very good that not only is Mickey Mouse and the other older Intellectual properties are going to be entering into the Public Domain, Disney is going to lose control of a lot of other properties they thought were going to be theirs forever and a day. Disney Management should be congratulated on proving out the concept of \u201cGet Woke, Go Broke.\u201d<\/p>\n

Disney isn\u2019t going to go broke anytime soon, but they are going to take a major hit to their bottom line. I doubt the Shareholders are going to reward the current management for screwing things up so badly. I wouldn\u2019t be surprised to see some changes coming to the Magic Kingdom if they lose their copyrights.<\/p>\n
