The results of this and other stupidity, such as the \u201cDefund the Police\u201d movement and the letting criminals out without providing bail has caused a massive increase in crime in many cities and states. It\u2019s also destroyed the morale of prosecutors who see it as their job to put criminals behind bars.<\/p>\n
In many cases, when these Soros D.A.\u2019s come into office, they force out the career prosecutors. Now, in New York City, the District Attorney\u2019s office is seeing a massive outflow of career prosecutors. They\u2019ve had enough of the idiot running the office and are handing in their resignations. Here are the details from Fox News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n Hundreds of prosecutors in New York City are quitting the district attorneys’ offices amid controversial criminal justice reforms<\/a>. <\/b>Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s office this year has hemorrhaged 65 assistant district attorneys, which is about 12% of the staff. <\/b><\/p>\n Bragg is one of the Soros D.A.\u2019s who is refusing to actually enforce the laws on the books, much like the recently recalled and removed D.A. in San Francisco, Chesa Boudin and the soon to be recalled Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon. Gascon has already been been ordered by the courts to basically do his damn job.<\/p>\n Bragg released a memo on his third day in office, ordering prosecutors not to seek prison sentences for a number of crimes and to downgrade charges \u2013 including for robberies and commercial burglaries. <\/b><\/p>\n Manhattan’s situation mirrors that of Brooklyn, where 67 prosecutors \u2014 approximately 13% \u2014 have resigned from DA Eric Gonzalez’s office as of June 17, with three more leaving last Thursday alone, according to the New York Post. In 2020, 84 resigned, and 94 left office in 2021. Fifty-nine prosecutors have quit in the Bronx beginning this year through May. <\/b><\/p>\n I don\u2019t know anything about Gonzalez, but it does appear he was elected for the same reason that Obama was. Skin color, not qualifications. (Which is about standard for the virtue signaling crowd in New York)<\/p>\n The resignations come amid state criminal justice reforms that some have criticized for being too onerous. In 2019, New York adopted discovery requirements that ordered lawyers to turn over large amounts of material to the defense in a short amount of time. <\/b><\/p>\n One of the major problems with prosecutors is their refusal to hand over discovery material. A lot of prosecutors have a habit of taking forever to provide material to the defense, which the defense is entitled to, and in many cases, dumping a huge amount of data on the defense attorneys just before the trial is to start, leaving them little to no time to actually go through it.<\/p>\n There have been a number of instances where exculpatory evidence was found after the trial and, usually, conviction of the defendant. It\u2019s also been found that the prosecutors knew about this information and intentionally buried it. This is one of the reasons that the changes were made. Of course, the prosecutors also need time to go through everything as well and they don\u2019t get it either under these changes.<\/p>\n Joan Illuzzi-Orbon, a former Manhattan assistant district attorney<\/a> and trial division chief who prosecuted Harvey Weinstein, told the New York Post that such regulations are “crippling our lawyers.” <\/b><\/p>\n “You become a file clerk rather than a trial lawyer,” she said, providing the example of how every officer’s bodycam footage at a protest might have to be produced if there are allegations of wrongdoing. <\/b><\/p>\n “It’s insanity,” she added. “Most of it is completely irrelevant and not germane in any way to the issues of the case.” <\/b><\/p>\n There is a \u201cHappy medium\u201d of course, but no one has bothered to actually go and look for it. The other issue is the flat out refusal of people like Bragg to actually prosecute people who commit really serious crimes.<\/p>\n Illuzzi-Orbon’s description of the state reforms echoed former Manhattan assistant district attorney Daniel Bibb, who told Fox News<\/a> in January that Bragg’s memo downgrading crimes such as armed robbery as “the definition of insanity.”<\/b><\/p>\n Who said Progressives are actually sane? We have seen time and time again how criminals are put ahead of their victims and\/or society in general. They have learned that with DA\u2019s. Like Bragg, they can literally get away with murder. Add to this the progressives views on the 2nd<\/sup> Amendment and the right of self defense, (they are opposed to both), and you have complete anarchy.<\/p>\n The issue these leftist Soros DA\u2019s and others fail to understand is that eventually, the citizens decide that they have to take action since they can no longer count on \u201cThe System\u201d to do anything to protect them. There is a term for this. It\u2019s called \u201cVigilantism.\u201d There is a reason that both versions of the movie Death Wish, (One with Charles Bronson<\/a>, the other with Bruce Willis<\/a>), have done so well.
