Good day all. If this is a day ending in a \u201cY\u201d then another university administration has gone totalitarian again. This time we have the University of Illinois Chicago who went all Beria<\/b><\/a> on some conservative students who set up an anti-Marxist display.<\/p>\n

Colleges and Universities used to be places that pushed free speech. That has pretty much ended these days and now they are nothing more then political reeducation centers. What happened in Chicago is a classic example. Here are the details from Fox News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n

A University of llinois Chicago<\/a> official was seen on video demanding an anti-Marxist display set-up by conservative students be removed from a sidewalk at the public university.\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

“There\u2019s a difference between public property and state property,” an official at the college, identified by the Young America\u2019s Foundation as associate director of UIC\u2019s Center for Student involvement, Vance Pierce, said in the video. “Public property is anybody can set up outside on the sidewalk, there\u2019s no issue. But inside, we do have some policies that we\u2019re trying to share with you.” <\/b><\/p>\n

That sounds like the standard educational techniques for today\u2019s education system. Present the politically correct side and crush any dissenting opinions.<\/p>\n

Chapter members of the Young Americans for Freedom had established a table on a sidewalk on Oct. 10 for a YAF-sponsored event called “No More Che Day,” YAF reported. The Young America\u2019s Foundation has sponsored “No More Che Day” on the anniversary of Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara\u2019s death at college campuses across the country for years to educate students about his “vicious campaigns to impose Communism on countries throughout Latin America.” <\/b><\/p>\n

Che Guevara was a vicious psychopath. The problem today is the left thinks he was the best thing since sliced bread because they don\u2019t know that he could have given Hitler, Pol Pot and Stalin a run for their money if he had the murder infrastructure that those tyrants had. Most of those who venerate him would have been seen as enemies of his state and executed. He also despised homosexuals and killed them as well.<\/p>\n

YAF said the students were handing out literature regarding Guevara\u2019s history at a table set up outside.\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, this appears to be only in Twitler, and I have included the link<\/a>. I fully expect it to be taken down by Twitler for violating their community standards that the posters are not communists or something.<\/p>\n

The college students are heard pushing back on the school official\u2019s claims, saying a sidewalk is public property. Pierce told the students that they could set up “across the street” and “do whatever,” arguing that where they were located is “indoor of the circle of buildings” and “not just opened to anybody.” <\/b><\/p>\n

He is also heard telling the students that if they don\u2019t pack up, he could file a complaint with the dean of students office. The students in the video are heard saying they would dismantle the table and leave.\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

“It\u2019s scary that we may face disciplinary action simply because we passed out literature critical of a communist murderer and terrorist,” Jerwyn Castillo, chairman of Young Americans for Freedom at UIC, told YAF of the incident.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

This sounds like a classic violation of the 1st<\/sup> Amendment by a school administrator to me. However, as usual, the tyrants running the alleged \u201cCenter of higher learning\u201d have a ready excuse for violating the 1st<\/sup> Amendment.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the university told Fox News Digital later Tuesday that “the individuals shown in the video did not follow university procedures to participate in an open expression activity on campus.” <\/b><\/p>\n

“Therefore, the organizers were informed they were in violation of university policy and were asked to remove their table from campus property,” the spokesperson said, noting that the school “is committed to the free and open expression of ideas for all members of the campus community and provides?guidance through” a school policy guide. All staff and students were reminded of the guide last month, according to the statement.\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

“As a public university, diverse viewpoints and the free exchange of ideas are valued and encouraged, and we expect members of our campus community to follow applicable university policies and procedures that establish reasonable time, place and manner rules.” <\/b><\/p>\n

The only reason I can see to ask the students to move would be public safety. In that case, they would have displaced a few yards and continued. This was nothing less then a flat out assault on their rights of free speech and assembly. It\u2019s time for these students to sue the pants off that university and name the loudmouth fascist as a co-defendant. The courts have started taking a very dim view of these assaults on the 1st<\/sup> Amendment these days. (You will get moron judges of course but that\u2019s what the appellate courts are for) We need more Oberlin colleges getting hammered for millions in damages.<\/p>\n
