Good day all. One of the stories that hasn\u2019t been covered much is the potential national strike of railroad workers. They are completely unionized and their contract expired some time ago. The Biden Maladministration has been trying to do a deal, but haven\u2019t been to successful.<\/p>\n

Since late 2020, thanks to the idiotic lock-downs, we have been dealing with supply chain issues. When the worst president* in history was installed into office, things got a lot worse. Add to that Dementia Joe\u2019s orders that \u201cYOU WILL BE INJECTED OR ELSE!\u201d with the covid vaccines, and things got a lot worse. Now things are about to go to hell in a hand basket. Here are the details from Fox Business News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n

The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers (IBB) announced Monday its members voted against ratifying a tentative agreement with the major freight railroads, making IBB the third labor group to turn down the deal brokered by the Biden administration<\/a> and upping the chances of a nationwide strike.<\/b><\/p>\n

The IBB said in a statement that it has now entered a “cooling off” period and plans to continue to negotiate further with the National Carriers’ Conference Committee (NCCC), which represents the nation’s largest railroads<\/a>, including BNSF, CSX, Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific. <\/b><\/p>\n

IBB joins the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen (BRS) and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Division of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (BMWED) in rejecting the proposed contracts providing rail workers a 24% wage increase during the five-year period from 2020 through 2024. <\/b><\/p>\n

A 24% pay increase over 5 years? I haven\u2019t seen a 24% pay hike in 10 years. My last pay hike at my real world job didn\u2019t even cover the increases in our health insurance. Just what are these wining losers after?<\/p>\n

Union rail workers opposed to the tentative agreement negotiated by President Biden’s Presidential Emergency Board (PEB) are unhappy that the deal did not do more to address quality of life issues, particularly a lack of sick time and working on skeleton crews. <\/b><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t pretend to understand the sick time issue. On the skeleton crew issue? That sounds more like a staffing problem with a potential safety issue. Driving a train is not like flying an airliner, but we\u2019ve all seen what happens when one of those has an accident. It\u2019s possible they don\u2019t have enough personnel to do a proper shift rotation. Or it could be the Unions trying to do a little featherbedding<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Multiple union members <\/b>told FOX Business<\/b><\/u><\/a> they are frustrated that their union representatives signed off on the PEB’s recommendations back in September, arguing the agreement did not do enough to improve working conditions.<\/b><\/p>\n

This doesn\u2019t surprise me. Union leaders rarely do anything to support the rank and file. They\u2019re in it for themselves. Of course, I freely admit I have no real understanding of what the rank and file is looking for. I don\u2019t know what their day to day job is. They might be justified in their demands, or they may not be. Still, a 24% raise?<\/p>\n

All twelve unions involved in the negotiations must agree to ratify their new contracts, or a strike could take place, devastating supply chains and the economy at large, costing an estimated $2 billion a day. Congress is expected to get involved if a work stoppage is triggered, but multiple unions have agreed to continue negotiating into early December. <\/b>So far, seven unions have voted to ratify their contracts, and now three have voted against<\/b> it<\/b><\/strong>. The remaining two unions’ ratification vote counts are slated to be announced next week. <\/b><\/p>\n

If a rail strike happens, it will flat out kill the economy. We won\u2019t be talking recession, we will be looking at a full blow depression with the potential for actual starvation. The last time there was a strike of this nature was 1992. It caused the Federal government to intervene very quickly and a law was passed that outlawed the strike<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Prior to that one, was the 1946 strike. Then President Truman basically seized the railroads<\/a> and threatened to draft the railroad engineers into the army. In both cases, we had presidents who were strong and congresses who knew that there were times when you had to set aside political differences.<\/p>\n

Now we have probably the weakest and most incompetent president in American history, and the Democrat Party has no interest in anything other then their power. If the unions go on strike, I don\u2019t expect those morons to do anything but make speeches. Of course, once the food fuel runs out, people aren\u2019t going to be to kind to either the railroad unions or the maladministration. A collapsed economy won\u2019t help matters either.<\/p>\n

Now I have no real ideas on how to fix this issue. I simply haven\u2019t studied it and I don\u2019t know the details. The last time they pulled a national strike, it led to the Taft-Hartley Act<\/a> which is still in force today. Whether or not the retard in the White House will do anything is another matter. We can certainly count on the Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttplug, to take another long vacation. This might be a good time to do some short term prepping.<\/p>\n
