Good day all. Once upon a time, San Diego was a deep red, rock ribbed conservative city in the People\u2019s Republic of Kalifornistan. Sadly. The Progressives have taken over and are now going full totalitarian.<\/p>\n

Back in the days when the state was called California and people actually had rights, the car was king. Public Transportation was never that much of an option since the state is so spread out, as are the cities. Traffic has always been a problem and many a comedian has cracked jokes about driving in the state. Now San Diego has decided that cars are to be all but banned and people will have no choice but to use public transportation. Here are the details from Fox News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n

San Diego County\u2019s Regional Transportation Agency\u2019s (SANDAG) latest transportation plan is designed to make driving so expensive that you succumb to public transportation. In addition to the current gas tax and registration fees, SANDAG\u2019s plan adds three new half-cent sales tax increases, over 800 miles of San Diego County freeway lanes<\/a> converted to toll lanes, and a mileage tax for every mile driven to pay for their $165 billion public mass transit plan. <\/b><\/p>\n

SANDAG\u2019s new plan refuses to build the road improvements promised in their last plan but will continue to tax us until 2048 to pay for them. SANDAG\u2019s finance plan states, “Charging fees for the transportation infrastructure that people use\u2014for example, charging users for each mile they drive on the highway\u2014can change travel behavior.” <\/b><\/p>\n

How fascist totalitarian of these scum. Now I don\u2019t have any idea of how all this was approved in the first place, but I assume it involved debate and votes. Somehow, I don\u2019t think the voters were consulted on this change.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a bait and switch — freeway dollars, gas tax dollars, and registration fees promised for road improvements instead pay for costly public mass transit projects that less than 3% of the public uses. <\/b><\/p>\n

Bait and Switch? It sounds more like outright fraud to me. I have to assume some of that money is federal, and normally they put some strings on it. (No question that Dementia Joe and Pete Buttplug wouldn\u2019t have a problem with this) Then there are bonds that were probably issued not to mention taxes. All of these were allegedly going to toads and bridges, not buses and stuff.<\/p>\n

Who will this affect the most? The lowest income earners. The math is simple, those that earn less will pay a disproportionately higher percentage of their income to get to where they need to go. <\/b>SANDAG, the self-proclaimed leader and champion of social equity is punishing those in the lower income brackets first \u2013 and will hurt them the most. <\/b>\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

That\u2019s always the way with Progressives, Liberals and Democrats. (Yes, I\u2019m repeating myself) The last thing they want is their slaves having the means to pick up and leave, let alone improve their situations.<\/p>\n

Another issue is time. I\u2019ve taken the train into Boston and then hopped the subway when I was looking for work. It was easier than dealing with the paved cow paths Boston calls streets, not to mention the nightmare that is parking. I have also driven in. Without question, driving in takes far less time, unless traffic is tied up than taking the trains and subways. Excluding parking, it\u2019s also generally cheaper.<\/p>\n

California is a bellwether state <\/a>for many liberal ideas and soon politicians may be proposing a similar per-mile tax in other states.\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

They already are. The totalitarians want to put mandatory GPS trackers into cars. They \u201cClaim\u201d that it won\u2019t be used to track people but we all know that\u2019s a flat out lie. They\u2019re already going after GPS data currently in cars from systems installed by car manufacturers. At least those you can disable. Try and disable a government mandated one and it\u2019s off to jail for you.<\/p>\n

The people of San Diego need to put a stop to this now, before it\u2019s to late. Personally, I\u2019m not at all confident that they will do anything until it\u2019s to late. There is also the issue of the United States Navy which has a major base located in San Diego.<\/p>\n

If there is an emergency, I don\u2019t think they\u2019re going to be to happy when all those sailors and marines are waiting for a bus to show up and looking for exact change. If allowed to stand it will be pushed into other blue cities and states. This is how the totalitarian left works. This needs to be shut down and hard.<\/p>\n
