Back in 2002, then President, George W. Bush decided to dilute our actions against Al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan by invading Iraq. In order to do this, he went to the Congress and asked for what amounted to a declaration of war. The actual military operations worked as expected and Saddam was caught was eventually hanged. The problem was the aftermath. When that happened, most people, myself included, assumed the war authorization was ended. Apparently, it wasn\u2019t. Now the Senate has decided the time has come and has started the process to repeal the authorization. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.military.com\/daily-news\/2023\/03\/17\/senate-takes-first-step-repealing-iraq-war-authorizations.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Here are the details from the Military News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><b>The Senate took a first step Thursday, March 16<\/b><sup><b>th<\/b><\/sup><b>, toward repealing two measures that give open-ended approval for military action in <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/iraq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Iraq<\/a>, pushing to end that authority as the United States marks the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/iraq-war-anniversary-troops-military-d1d9a7e6e83925dec22fce4d2e2c831e\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">20th anniversary<\/a> of the Iraq War. <\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><b>Senators voted 68-27 to move forward on legislation that would <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/donald-trump-joe-biden-middle-east-iraq-government-and-politics-184f804c1202c0808f986425fd75341f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">repeal the 2002 measure that greenlighted that March 2003 invasion of Iraq<\/a> and also a 1991 measure that sanctioned the U.S.-led Gulf War to expel Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein\u2019s forces from Kuwait. Nineteen Republicans joined Democrats in supporting the repeal. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Well, as far as I\u2019m concerned, it\u2019s about time. The 1991 authorization was put in place to remove Iraq from Kuwait after Hussein invaded the kingdom. We went in because we thought he wouldn\u2019t stop and would keep going until he took Saudi Arabia and full control of the oil. (Another reason we need President Trump back in office. He made America self sufficient in oil for the first time in decades) It was kept in place to keep Hussein in line.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/shocked-face.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-20636\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/shocked-face-300x225.png?resize=300%2C225\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/shocked-face.png?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/angry.net\/blog2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/shocked-face.png?w=400&amp;ssl=1 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The second authorization was based on bad intelligence that Hussein was making nerve gas again. While facilities were found, nothing new was being produced. We did stumble on old stock piles that were either missed or hidden, and there were injuries from leaks. Once we pulled out of Iraq, we should have ended the whole thing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><b>The bipartisan effort comes as lawmakers in both parties are increasingly seeking to claw back congressional powers over U.S. military strikes and deployments, arguing that the war authorizations are no longer necessary and subject to misuse if they are left on the books. President Joe Biden has backed the push, and the White House issued a statement Thursday in support. <\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201c<b>Repeal of these authorizations would have no impact on current U.S. military operations and would support this administration\u2019s commitment to a strong and comprehensive relationship with our Iraqi partners,\u201d the White House said <\/b><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i.pinimg.com\/originals\/9a\/fa\/68\/9afa6824633fa5fe0b546f4a8c0beba5.jpg?resize=359%2C526&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"359\" height=\"526\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Biden and his masters are in the process of gutting our military and handing this country over to the Chinese Communist government. He is, as usual wrong. However, it looks like the Senate has a veto proof majority in any case, so bumbles statement is meaningless.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><b>Sens. Tim Kaine, D-Va., and Todd Young, R-Ind., said they believe the 68 votes in support send a powerful message to Americans who believe their voice should be heard on matters of war and peace. Kaine and Young have led the push for repeal and have worked for several years on the issue. <\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201c<b>It is time for Congress to have its voice heard on these matters, and I believe this will establish a very important precedent moving forward,\u201d Young said. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>For those who might not remember, this creep was Felonia von Pantsuit&#8217;s VP nominee.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i.pinimg.com\/originals\/78\/59\/1c\/78591cf18f1e3f9cabd5c3f983798d2e.png?resize=450%2C253&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"450\" height=\"253\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now this moves to the House and this is where things get interesting. It seems that <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\"><i>Charley<\/i><\/span> Kevin McCarthy has opposed this legislation in the past.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><b>It\u2019s unclear whether leaders in the Republican-controlled House will bring the bill up for a vote, even if it passes the Senate. Forty-nine House Republicans supported the legislation when then-majority Democrats held a vote two years ago, but current House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., has opposed it. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i.pinimg.com\/originals\/c1\/b2\/c6\/c1b2c670553c45de0960a757c4a3071a.jpg?resize=293%2C446&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"293\" height=\"446\" \/><\/p>\n<p>McCarthy would be well advised to bring this to a vote. He has a narrow majority, and members of the House on both sides of the aisle think it\u2019s time to close this all down.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><b>Senate Republicans are also split on the legislation. While the 19 GOP senators voted for it, opponents argue that the repeal could project weakness to U.S. enemies. They have pointed out that President Donald Trump\u2019s administration cited the 2002 Iraq war resolution as part of its legal justification for a 2020 U.S. drone strike that killed Iranian Gen. Qassim Soleimani. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Projecting weakness? That horse left the barn on January 20<sup>th<\/sup>, 2021 at around 12PM EST. We have one of the weakest presidents* in history. As for dealing with Soleimani, the Greatest President of the 21<sup>st<\/sup> Century, Donald Trump, probably would have still taken him out, he just would have used something other then a drone.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i.pinimg.com\/originals\/f2\/ec\/1e\/f2ec1e1afdab8954c7c01e3993eadd64.jpg?resize=450%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Besides, we have been in a technical state of war with Iran since about 1980. They declared war on the United States. We\u2019ve just been ignoring them generally. (Or if you are an Obama democrat, actively aiding them to hurt the United States and Israel)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><b>One of the amendments that could be considered would repeal a separate authorization of military force passed immediately after the 2001 attacks. It gave Bush broad authority for the invasion of Afghanistan and the fight against terrorism but did not name one country, instead broadly approving force \u201cagainst those nations, organizations, or persons\u201d that planned or aided the attacks on the U.S. <\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><b>But there is less support in the Senate and Congress overall for repealing the broader authority. Biden and some lawmakers have supported replacing or revising that authorization in the future, but \u201cnot right now,\u201d Kaine said, as it is still used by the military. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s idea on a replacement will be exactly the wrong thing to do of course. Besides, he\u2019s more likely to hand things over to our enemies rather then bomb them. The Taliban is still inventorying all the equipment Biden and Miley handed them after the Biden Bugout.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i.pinimg.com\/originals\/1f\/13\/58\/1f1358e1ae3446146980b048c872a38e.jpg?resize=330%2C210&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"330\" height=\"210\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><b>In its statement of policy, the White House appeared to reference the 2001 authority, saying that Biden \u201cremains committed to working with the Congress to ensure that outdated authorizations for the use of military force are replaced with a narrow and specific framework more appropriate to protecting Americans from modern terrorist threats.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m sure Biden\u2019s \u201cFramework\u201d involves doing nothing at all other then letting the RIF\u2019s and others murder Americans at will. As for the Iraq authorizations? They have outlived their usefulness and need to be repealed. Only the Neocons and Globalists in the Uniparty want to keep them since they like endless wars for no benefit to the United States.
