Good day all. One of the things that drives people insane are robocalls, especially political robocalls. There is a mechanism in place to block these calls and texts, but it seems that San Fran Nan Pelosi\u2019s people ignored it.<\/p>\n

Well, she finally pissed off the wrong person, and he decided to do something about it. Here are the details from the Business Insider<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n

An Illinois man is now $7,500 richer after accusing Nancy Pelosi of violating federal robocalling laws.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wait, this is someone in Illinois? The last I heard, San Francisco, the Open Air Toilet by the Bay, was in the People\u2019s Republic of Kalifornistan. Why was she sending this guy fundraising texts? I guess he was wondering the same thing, and since Pelosi\u2019s people ignored his requests to stop, he sued her wrinkly ass off.<\/p>\n

In October 2022, a Bolingbrook, Illinois resident named Jorge Rojas filed a 13-page lawsuit<\/a> in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois that accused the former speaker of the House and her campaign of violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991. <\/b><\/p>\n

That law, which has been found to apply to text messages in addition to calls, applies restrictions to robocalling and requires telemarketers not to contact individuals who’ve placed themselves on the Do Not Call Registry. <\/b><\/p>\n

“As the Supreme Court has explained, Americans passionately disagree about many things,” reads the introduction of Rojas’s complaint. “But they are largely united in their disdain for robocalls.” <\/b><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve added all my numbers to that list, but I still get crap coming in. Now I just block the numbers and report them as spam.<\/p>\n

According to the suit, Rojas received 21 texts from Pelosi’s campaign from November 2021 to July 2022 despite previously placing himself on the registry in 2008 to “obtain solitude from invasive and harassing telemarketing calls.” <\/b><\/p>\n

What? You thought she actually cares about the anti-robocalling law? I guess Mr. Rojas assumed that the laws he and others are expected to comply with, also covered San Fran Nan. I have no idea where he got that idea.<\/p>\n

Arguing that the texts constituted “malicious, intentional, willful, reckless, wanton and negligent disregard” for his rights, Rojas sought at least $31,500 in damages from Pelosi’s campaign, including $1,500 for each text received. <\/b><\/p>\n

Well, it looks like Mr. Rojas did something most people hadn\u2019t considered. He went for Pelosi\u2019s bank account. However, a few months later, Mr. Rojas dropped his lawsuit. It seems that Pelosi\u2019s people decided to settle with him.<\/p>\n

On February 22, Rojas moved to dismiss the suit against Pelosi. <\/b>And according to federal campaign finance disclosures<\/a> made public on Friday, the dismissal came after Rojas received a $7,500 payment marked “Settlement” from Pelosi’s congressional campaign. <\/b><\/p>\n

Fundraising texts sent in Pelosi’s name have achieved a certain level of notoriety \u2014 and infamy \u2014 in recent years. <\/b><\/p>\n

“Why won’t Nancy Pelosi stop emailing me?” read the headline of a recent Los Angeles Times column<\/a> in which the author expressed annoyance at the increasingly hyperbolic tone of campaign solicitations in general. <\/b><\/p>\n

Why? Because you peons need to be reminded that you must pay tribute to Her Royal Highness, San Fran Nan Pelosi. Well, someone finally had enough and went after her. Normally I would say that more people should do the same and, hopefully, completely wreck her campaign finances, but since the Democrats lost the House…again under her speakership, she\u2019s left the leadership and looks like she\u2019s winding down her days in the House of Representatives. Since she basically has no more power, her ability to extort<\/i><\/span> raise funds is dropping, much like donations to the Clinton Slush Fund<\/i><\/span> Foundation. Congratulations to Mr. Rojas It\u2019s a pity that you\u2019ll now have to hand it all over to the State of Illinois in what the call taxes.<\/p>\n
