It was thought that this blatant assault on the 1st<\/sup> Amendment has been stopped, but like any progressive bad idea, it\u2019s making a reappearance. Here are the details from the Daily Wire<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n A<\/b>s the Special Counsel John Durham reports<\/a> on the FBI\u2019s disinformation campaign on Russia and Trump is issued, President Biden pushes forward with his efforts to control speech online. Only one year ago, Biden\u2019s team tried to set up a Disinformation Governance Board<\/a>. Despite failing, unfortunately it sparked a trend for Biden, with multiple, similar executive offices cropping up unnoticed, like the Foreign Malign Influence Center<\/a> (FMIC) under the Director of National Intelligence. <\/b><\/p>\n I can\u2019t say I\u2019m surprised by this, The utter contempt for the Constitution of the United States by Bumbles Dementia Biden and everyone in his maladministration is pretty obvious. In fact, they aren\u2019t even trying to hide their intent to end the United States as a constitutional republic.<\/p>\n Every American should be alarmed by the Biden administration\u2019s pushes on multiple fronts, from the regulatory state to the surveillance regime, to expand its \u201coversight\u201d of our constitutionally-protected civil liberties. But this effort seems to be less focused on safeguarding Americans and more about exerting control over us. <\/b><\/p>\n it\u2019s not just the Biden, but the entire Democrat Party that is working to destroy the Constitution. I\u2019m not surprised about this. The Democrats have had nothing but contempt for the Constitution at least as far back as Woodrow Wilson.<\/p>\n Any government agency determining the merits of American speech is dangerous. The greatest threat to prosperity is not external\u2014it is a loss of trust among the people in institutions. The danger lies in the potential emergence of a two-tiered justice system \u2013 one for the party in power, and one for everyone else. <\/b><\/p>\n The problem with losing trust in the institutions is where the next step is. We\u2019re already seeing the beginnings of vigilante justice, thanks to the Soros DA\u2019s. Some of these DA\u2019s have already been successfully removed from office, but the others are dug in like ticks. I am terribly worried that someone may decide that the only way to deal with these DA\u2019s is in a very permanent, extralegal way.<\/p>\n This two-tiered system is already rearing its head today: if the cause aligns with the Biden administration\u2019s agenda, it seems everything is permissible, from defacing cities to intimidating Supreme Court Justices<\/a>. The most egregious examples of this administration\u2019s censorial instincts can be seen in the government\u2019s extensive effort to suppress of the Hunter Biden laptop story<\/a>. The same goes for the Covid-19 lab leak theory, which was initially dismissed as conspiracy but has since been found to have legitimate grounds for investigation. <\/b><\/p>\n What we are seeing are things that helped lead up to the American Civil War. Back then it was the abuse of the southern states ability to grow their economy among other things. (Historically, Slavery was actually 4th<\/sup> or 5th<\/sup> on the list of reasons the South seceded) Here we\u2019re seeing the government going after anyone who goes against the progressive narrative, up to an including arresting people on trumped up charges.<\/p>\n The Biden administration\u2019s assault on our First Amendment rights is un-American. We need a government that respects our rights, values our freedoms and stands firm on our principles. <\/b><\/p>\n Biden, his Maladministration and the Democrat Party are un-American. Considering all the information that has been slowing coming out regarding the Biden Pay for Play schemes, the lies regarding the Covid-19 panicdemic and the Twitter Files, Biden should have already been removed from office.<\/p>\n One solution is in the courts, where the protections of the First Amendment are litigated. <\/b><\/p>\n The Third Box of Liberty, when the first two have failed is obviously the preferred means of dealing with a government that has been actively suppressing the rights of the people.<\/p>\n When states like California enacted laws to criminalize \u201cinappropriate\u201d speech on websites, my company, NetChoice, brought legal action to block it<\/a>. <\/b><\/p>\n Kalifornistan is basically a lost cause as are most of the Blue States. They are actively moving to suppress the rights guaranteed under the Constitution, and are now closing in on flat out ignoring the courts when they don\u2019t like the results. (Such as upholding the 2nd<\/sup> Amendment)<\/p>\n We applied the same principles when Texas<\/a> and Florida<\/a> tried to force websites to host lawful but awful speech. Our cases centered on protecting the First Amendment rights of all citizens and stopping government control of speech. Our legal victories thus far make clear that the government can\u2019t block our free speech. <\/b><\/p>\n I will be honest and say I am not at all familier with the cases regarding Texas and Florida, and I don\u2019t have any information on them. The links in the article to NetChoice don\u2019t provide any obvious details. I believe it\u2019s now going to the Supreme Court, so I expect we will all find out the details soon enough.<\/p>\n The column go on to remark that the Consumers are a far better way to deal with companies then generating more regulations, (Which get things wrong most of the time), and lists New Coke as an example. I\u2019ll add that we\u2019re seeing the same results with regards to Bud Light and Target. Both companies have lost billions thanks to their Woke stupidity\/ (Chik-fil-a might be seeing the beginnings of some blowback due to a recent hiring decision)<\/p>\n Congress is another solution. The Protecting Free Speech from Government Interference Act<\/a> makes clear for government employees that their coercion of social media for political purposes is illegal. Judicial interventions to strike down unconstitutional actions are positive steps, but they are not enough. <\/b><\/p>\n It would be if we had a congress with a majority of people who actually uphold their oaths of office. Sadly, the majority generally doesn\u2019t and some, (Democrats mostly), consider the oath to uphold the constitution to be archaic and something that they can and do ignore.<\/p>\n America\u2019s Founding Fathers envisioned a government that would protect individual rights, not trample on them. They instituted checks and balances to prevent the kind of overreach we are witnessing today. It\u2019s a strategy that stifles innovation, hampers growth and shakes the very foundations of our democracy. <\/b><\/p>\n Yeah, those days are long gone. The courts threw the Constitution over the side long ago. Now that we have some judges and supreme Court justices who are actually moving things back to the Constitutional way of doing things. The response from the Progressive Liberal Democrats that we need to \u201cPack the court\u201d with justices who will ignore the Constitution outright.<\/p>\n A serious threat to America is not just China, Russia or Iran, but a loss of faith in our institutions. As a former employee of the FTC and the U.S. Office of Government Ethics, I know public service requires public trust. The corruption within our institutions must be stopped, and our commitment to serving the American people above all else must be reaffirmed by our elected officials. <\/b><\/p>\n I\u2019m afraid that this horse has left the barn, traveled to another county, frolicked with any number of fillies, retired. The author of the column thinks that we can turn things around using the normal means of doing so.
