Good day all. A few months ago, Alec Baldwin thought he had, unlike his victims, dodged a bullet when the charges against him were dropped. When the news broke that Baldwin was going to \u201cget away with it,\u201d most people were furious at the prosecutor. People were saying \u201cOf course the fix is in! Baldwin is one of the \u201cSpecial People.\u201d<\/p>\n

Well, as former Nixon Press Secretary, Ron Ziegler once said, That statement is no longer operative. Here are some of the details from Townhall<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n

The long-running legal troubles swirling around Alec Baldwin following the deadly October 2021 shooting on the set of the film “Rust” at Bonanza Creek Ranch in Bonanza City, New Mexico, might not be as resolved as previously thought. <\/b><\/p>\n

Apparently, even after special prosecutors in the Land of Enchantment decided in April to dismiss the involuntary manslaughter charge Baldwin faced, new expert analysis of the firearm used in the film that discharged in Baldwin’s hand, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, has cast doubt on Baldwin’s stated version of events.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Baldwin had admitted to, while rehearsing a scene, pulling back the hammer on the revolver \u2014 which was a fully operable prop \u2014 but denied pulling the trigger. Essentially, his story was that the firearm just went off, or something, as the result of a “malfunction.” Never mind, apparently, that it’s common sense to *never* point a firearm at another person unless you’re intending to shoot them no matter how certain you are that it is “safe.” <\/b><\/p>\n

Baldwin, as I understand it, flat out refused to take the gun safety briefing\/training that is standard on sets where firearms, even non-firing props are present. The person who was providing the firearms was new to the job and, instead of insisting to the point of walking off the set with her guns, let Baldwin get away with not taking the safety course. If Baldwin had taken the training and paid any attention, he would have inspected the gun he was handed and found the loaded chamber in the revolver\u2019s cylinder.<\/p>\n

Baldwin’s story, however, is now in doubt following a second expert review of the firearm, as The Associated Press reported<\/a>: <\/b><\/p>\n

The new gun analysis from experts in ballistics and forensic testing based in Arizona and New Mexico relied on replacement parts to reassemble the gun fired by Baldwin \u2014 after parts of the pistol were broken during earlier testing by the FBI. The new report examines the gun and markings it left on a spent cartridge to conclude that the trigger had to have been pulled or depressed. <\/b><\/p>\n

Excuse me? The FBI broke the murder weapon during testing? They had to replace parts? How the Hell did they manage to do that? Oh wait. It\u2019s the Federal Bureau of Incompetents.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough Alec Baldwin repeatedly denies pulling the trigger, given the tests, findings and observations reported here, the trigger had to be pulled or depressed sufficiently to release the fully cocked or retracted hammer of the evidence revolver,\u201d states the analysis led by Lucien Haag of Forensic Science Services in Arizona. <\/b><\/p>\n

This has to be giving Baldwin some serious indigestion. The original charges were dismissed, but not with prejudice, meaning they could be refiled.<\/p>\n

This new conclusion from the second analysis means that prosecutors might end up refiling charges against Baldwin for his role in the shooting. According to AP, special prosecutor Kari <\/b><\/p>\n

Morrissey said this week “that a formal announcement on whether to refile any charges against Baldwin is forthcoming but didn’t say how soon,” making this a wait-and-watch situation again.\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

There appears to be a time limit on this, and I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be allowed to lapse.<\/p>\n

The window for prosecutors to refile charges against Baldwin does, however, have a countdown clock running. “In an early June court filing, prosecutors gave themselves 60 days to renew a case against Baldwin, contingent on a determination that the gun did not malfunction,” AP reminded. <\/b><\/p>\n

We all know the gun didn\u2019t malfunction, Baldwin did. He\u2019s been getting the \u201cHunter Biden Treatment\u201d while the woman who was in charge of the guns is the one they are working to destroy. If this had been anyone else, the trial would already have been concluded and the defendant would already be enjoying his evening showers with his new boyfriend Rocco. We\u2019ll know soon enough if the prosecutor is an ethical one or just another David Weiss.<\/p>\n
