McConnell is not liked by the Republican base. They consider him the reason the Senate is in the hands of the Evil UpChuck Schumer and the Democrats. He pulled resources from several GOP candidates during the 2022 midterms because they wouldn\u2019t support him as the leader of the Republicans in the Senate. It\u2019s gone downhill from there. There has been a lot of talk of forcing this Jurassic Pol from the leadership. Mitch McConnell<\/a> the longest-serving party leader in Senate history, announced Wednesday he will step away from leadership in November.\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

McConnell, who turned 82 last week, announced his decision in the well of the Senate shortly after noon, a place where he looked in awe from its back benches in 1985 when he arrived and where he grew increasingly comfortable in the front-row seat afforded the party leaders.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“One of life\u2019s most underappreciated talents is to know when it\u2019s time to move on to life\u2019s next chapter,” he said in his floor speech. “So I stand before you today … to say that this will be my last term as Republican leader of the Senate.”<\/strong><\/p>\n
