The flag, like the blue striped version, indicates support for those lost during the 9\/11 attack. Apparently, some Commie was upset about this flag and demanded it be removed. Here are the details from the New York Post<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n Fire Department brass ordered an East Village ladder company to remove its \u201cred line\u201d American flag honoring the squad\u2019s six brothers killed on 9\/11 \u2013 after a neighborhood resident complained it was \u201cfascist\u201d and a local lefty pol questioned whether it was a \u201cpolitically charged symbol.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n The shocking order came March 22 after a man claiming he was a staffer for Democratic Manhattan Councilwoman Carlina Rivera confronted firefighters at Ladder Co. 11, sources said. <\/b><\/p>\n The man pedaled up to the East 2nd<\/sup> Street firehouse on a bicycle and told firefighters he worked for Rivera and that the councilwoman\u2019s office \u201ccomplained\u201d to the FDNY three days earlier about the flag \u2013 which features a red stripe in tribute of firefighters injured or killed in the line of duty. <\/b><\/p>\n He called it a \u201cfascist symbol\u201d and demanded to know why it was still up, sources said. <\/b><\/p>\n That the FDNY command even entertained this is a disgrace. It shows just how bad the City Government has become. Everyone thought that the previous mayor, Bill de Blasio and his \u201cadministration,\u201d was a complete disaster. Eric Adams has managed to make people wish de Blasio was still in office.<\/p>\n In a March 19 email to FDNY Intergovernmental Affairs Coordinator Madison Hernandez, Rivera staffer Lisander Rosario said the councilwoman\u2019s office was contacted by the \u201cconstituent\u201d twice about the ladder company\u2019s flag and asked if it\u2019s violating department rules. <\/b><\/p>\n \u201c[FDNY staff] claimed it was to honor deceased firefighters, however, [the constituent] brought up that they could\u2019ve used an FDNY flag rather than a politically charged symbol,\u201d Rosario wrote. <\/b><\/p>\n \u201cIt is to both his and our understanding that private political symbols aren\u2019t permitted to be displayed on public vehicles.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n \u201cCan you confirm if there are any violating flags\/symbols on Ladder 11?\u201d added the email, which was obtained by The Post. <\/b><\/p>\n Obviously, I don\u2019t have any knowledge of Lisander Rosario. She is obviously a Communist<\/i><\/span> Progressive Democrat otherwise she would have told that jerk to get lost. That she she, or her staffer didn\u2019t send that whiny little jerk packing speaks volumes.<\/p>\n Hours after the \u201cconstituent\u201d left the firehouse, FDNY Deputy Chief Joseph Schiralli visited firefighters there and reluctantly said the flag must come off the fire truck because it violated a department prohibition of \u201caltered\u201d versions of the American flag. <\/b><\/p>\n I doubt it was the Deputy Chief who made this decision. I suspect it went right to the top. That would be Laura Kavanagh, the current fire commissioner. She has absolutely no training or experience in running a major, or even a tiny fire department. She is a political animal and her first thoughts will always be how something looks politically. She\u2019s also the one who threatened firefighters for booing Letitia James.<\/p>\n Schiralli told the firefighters he agreed with them that it\u2019s \u201cridiculous\u201d to remove the flag, recalled one of the smoke-eaters. <\/b><\/p>\n Deputy Chief Schiralli is an actual firefighter. Without question he \u201cWas there\u201d when the twin towers came down on 9\/11. The FDNY lost 343 firefighters when the towers collapsed, with several stations losing every single firefighter on duty that day. Probably one of the best movies on that day i<\/b>s World Trade Center<\/b><\/a> staring Nicolas Cage. That was the story of a team of firefighters caught in the collapse, survived in an air pocket and were rescued. (I Highly recommend it. It\u2019s one of Cage\u2019s best works)<\/p>\n The order sparked immediate outrage on social media, with conservative Instagram influencer Rogan O\u2019Handley posting a photo of the flag and saying, <\/a>\u201cNY firefighters were forced to take down a memorial for those that died on 9\/11. What\u2019s happened to NYC?!\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n What happened? Do you need to ask? This is what happens when the Democrats are in control for to long. They destroy everything they touch. The good news is that after repeated virtual blows to the head, Kavanagh changed what passes for her mind.<\/p>\n Hours later, now-Commissioner Kavanagh and Chief of Department John Hodgens reversed the decision and allowed the flag back on the truck. <\/b><\/p>\n I looked up John Hodgens and unlike the Commissioner, he is an actual firefighter. However, one of the problems with his position is that it\u2019s very political and he has to kowtow to the likes of Eric Adams and Laura Kavanagh.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re happy with the outcome of this \u2014 but we\u2019re offended it happened in the first place,\u201d said a Ladder 11 firefighter. <\/b><\/p>\n \u201cThis flag has huge significance for us.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n The problem is that the people who went after the fire station didn\u2019t actually come down and talk to them.<\/p>\n \u201cI wish [Rivera\u2019s office] would have come at it like \u2018Hey, we want to learn about the flag and what it represents\u2019 before they asked for it to be taken down,\u2019\u201d said another Ladder 11 fireman. <\/b><\/p>\n That would have required competence and curiosity on the part of the councilwoman and competence by her staffer.<\/p>\n Rivera insisted to The Post that her office never contacted Ladder Co. 11 about the issue, and that the initial complainant was a constituent, not a staffer. <\/b><\/p>\n That sounds like some CYA to me. While it is agreed that it was some soi boi man bun wearing loser on his way to his safe space, that they cared so little for the people who\u2019s job is to risk their lives to pull these morons from a burning building is very telling.<\/p>\n She said her office sent the March 19 email to the FDNY asking whether \u201cpolitical symbols are on display\u201d at the ladder company only after the constituent questioned the flag\u2019s legality in an email to her staff. <\/b><\/p>\n A single 5 minute phone call would have gotten that answer.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have heard nothing further from the FDNY and have taken no additional action on this matter,\u201d said Rivera, who added she\u2019s allocated $450,000 in Council discretionary funds to improve the ladder company\u2019s firehouse. <\/b><\/p>\n \u201cMy relationship with Ladder 11 has always been strong.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n Rivera, a former dues-paying member<\/a> of the Democratic Socialists of America, voted to defund<\/a>\u00a0the NYPD by $1 billion in 2020 and also routinely ripped cops that same year during the Black Lives Matters protests. <\/b><\/p>\n Councilwoman Joann Ariola (R-Queens), who chairs the fire and emergency management committee, called the flag-removal debacle a \u201csanctioned attack on the First Amendment rights of our civil servants.\u201d <\/b><\/p>\n That it was, that it was, and worse, the moonbats didn\u2019t even bother to ask what the flag actually meant and stood for. I also think they didn\u2019t care either. The Left in this country is dedicated to the destruction of everything that is the United States of America. There are a few, outside of the Muslim community, who think that we deserved to be hit. These are the same people who brought gasoline and matches to the 2020 \u201cSummer of love\u201d riots.
