This is what\u2019s happening in North Carolina as the Democrats work to keep Robert F. Kennedy Jr. off the ballet. Here are the details from Newsmax<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n The North Carolina Democratic Party has challenged the state election board’s recent decision to recognize a new political party that will put Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on the state’s presidential ballots. <\/b><\/p>\n The complaint filed Thursday seeks to reverse the board’s action that made We The People\u00a0an official party in the presidential battleground state. Board staff last week said that supporters of We The People turned in enough valid signatures from registered and qualified voters to exceed the petition threshold in state law. <\/b><\/p>\n The reason that the Democrats want to suppress RFK\u2019s We the People party is simple. It\u2019s tending to pull votes from the Democrat party. This is something the Democrats can not have, otherwise they won\u2019t be able to \u201cProtect Democracy!!\u2122\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n In the complaint filed in Wake County Superior Court, lawyers representing the Democratic Party alleged that Kennedy’s campaign evaded tougher standards for independent candidates to get on the ballot \u2014 six times as many signatures \u2014 by masquerading as a political party in violation of state law. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n Obviously. I\u2019m not at all conversant in the ballot access laws of North Carolina. However, forcing someone to get six times the signatures as one of the political parties strikes me as not fair and a tool to keep people off the ballot, thus taking away a voter\u2019s right to choose who they want to vote for. Still, if RFK\u2019s people have gone through the process of forming a political party, good for them.<\/span><\/p>\n The board voted 4-1 in favor of recognition. While Democratic board Chair Alan Hirsch voted yes, he still said that We The People had engaged in “subterfuge”\u00a0and suggested that anyone challenging the vote in court would “have a very good case.” <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n So if you believed that We The People didn\u2019t follow the process, why did you vote in favor of giving them access to the ballot? That sounds like a bit of fraud on your part to me.<\/p>\n We The People representatives have defended the signature drive as legitimate and aligned with state law. The party said its candidates would include Kennedy and running mate Nicole Shanahan, along with candidates for two other local races. <\/b><\/p>\n Of course they will say they fallowed the law. I\u2019ll wager they can prove it too if this does go to court.<\/b><\/p>\n The Democratic Party asked that a judge act by Aug. 16 to issue a preliminary injunction preventing printed ballots for the fall to contain We The People candidates. <\/b><\/p>\n I will be very interested in seeing how that goes. I suspect it will depend on the judge. If it\u2019s one of the DNC\u2019s pet judges, regardless of the evidence, they will rule against RFK. If it\u2019s an honest judge, and the evidence provided favors the We The People party, they\u2019re going on the ballot. Another party was denied access, Cornel West\u2019s Justice For Me<\/i><\/span> All party.<\/p>\n Republicans criticized the refusal. They’ve said Democrats were trying to deny spots for West and Kennedy on ballots that would take away votes from the Democratic presidential nominee. <\/b><\/p>\n This sort of thing, the major parties blocking access to small parties that might hurt them, is an election year game. Occasionally, it\u2019s the Republicans, usually going after the Libertarian party. Most of the time it\u2019s the Democrats since \u201cDEMOCRACY!!\u2122<\/span>\u201d<\/p>\n As for RFK Jr., I have no intention of voting or supporting him. He\u2019s a flat out nut. He is a pure anti-vaxxer, and not just Covid-19 clot shots. He has a record of opposing all vaccinations that have been in use for, in some cases, the better part of a century. His own family, (Yes, those Kennedy\u2019s), have disavowed his campaign.
