Good day all. One of the issues the Republican Party is the current Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson. He became Speaker of the House when no one else was acceptable to the GOP. He was basically a compromise choice. Many saw him as a caretaker, and other saw him as someone who could help deal with the out of control spending.<\/p>\n

It soon became apparent that Johnson was not going to be the one to help deal with the Deep State. He, bluntly, kept getting rolled by the Democrats. It later came out that he was taking advice from former Speaker, John Boehner. Boehner was so bad, constantly sucking up to Obama that he was forced out by the GOP rank and file.<\/p>\n
There has been talk for months about replacing Johnson after the 2024 election. How serious this was is questionable. However, with the recent mess with the end of year continuing resolution, the talk of replacing him has increased. The only question is, with who? Here are the details from Fox News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n The chaotic collapse of the continuing resolution spending bill is putting House Speaker Mike Johnson\u2019s, R-La., leadership under the spotlight and Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.,<\/a> has floated the idea of replacing him with Elon Musk, President-elect Trump’s pick to co-chair his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). <\/b><\/p>\n Now for some edumakashun stuff. You do not have to be an elected member of the House of Representatives to be the Speaker of the House. To my knowledge, no one but an elected member has been the Speaker. One potential issue is the Presidential Line of Succession.<\/p>\n The Speaker of the House is third in line, however to be the President of the United States, you must be a native born citizen. Elon Musk is a naturalized citizen and is therefore ineligible. This isn\u2019t an issue as he would be skipped over and the president Pro Tempore of the Senate would be the next in line.<\/p>\n Paul took to Musk\u2019s X on Thursday morning to pitch the idea of the tech billionaire taking the House speaker\u2019s gavel, noting that the speaker does not need to be a sitting member of Congress. <\/b><\/p>\n “The Speaker of the House need not be a member of Congress\u2026 Nothing would disrupt the swamp more than electing Elon Musk<\/a>\u2026 think about it… nothing\u2019s impossible. (not to mention the joy at seeing the collective establishment, aka \u2018uniparty,\u2019 lose their ever-lovin\u2019 minds),” wrote Paul, a staunchly libertarian conservative on fiscal matters. <\/b><\/p>\n There is no question that making Musk the Speaker would cause a lot of heads to explode, especially to the Democrats. There certainly would be an advantage to Musk being Speaker. He won\u2019t care about the 2026 elections since he\u2019s not an office holder. He won\u2019t have to worry about all the quid pro quo things that elected Speakers do. He would also have a lot of fun saying NO to all the special interests.<\/p>\n It was both Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy along with others from the DOGE team went through the first continuing resolution and found out that is was just another Congressional Pork bill and went after it. Between them and President-Elect, (Or is it Acting President since Dementia Joe is now MIA), Trump, the first bill went down in flames.<\/p>\n “Any member of the House or Senate who votes for this outrageous\u00a0spending bill<\/a>\u00a0deserves to be voted out in 2 years!” Musk wrote on X. The legislation has\u00a0angered conservatives, including President-elect Trump who also called for it to be scrapped.\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n And the pressure worked. I didn\u2019t follow all this as closely as I would have liked, (Real World stuff takes precedence), but I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if the phones lines melted from people calling ttheir reps and telling them to kill this load of manure.<\/p>\n It’s unclear if Paul was serious in his suggestion or if the post was made with tongue-in-cheek. <\/b><\/p>\n I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if Rand Paul was joking a bit, but then Elon Musk was joking a bit when he asked How much for Twitter a few years ago. We know how that worked out. One group that is aghast at the idea of Elon Musk becoming the Speaker of the House is, of course, the Democrats.<\/p>\n Democratic political strategist Jimmy Williams balked at the idea. <\/b><\/p>\n “Senators should stick to Senating and House Members should stick to their Chamber,” Williams wrote on X. “No House Member gives a damn what a Senator thinks about who should be Speaker.” <\/b><\/p>\n Granted, Rand Paul is a member of the Senate and has zero authority over the House. However, there are those in the House who like the idea.<\/p>\n However, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., backed the idea. <\/b><\/p>\n “I\u2019d be open to supporting @elonmusk for Speaker of the House,” Greene wrote on X, replying to Paul. “DOGE can only truly be accomplished by reigning in Congress to enact real government efficiency. The establishment needs to be shattered just like it was yesterday. This could be the way.” <\/b><\/p>\n There are other Republicans that have had it with Johnson\u2019s Speakership. Like Kevin McCarthy before him, much was expected of Johnson. Of course, unlike McCarthy, he wasn\u2019t a flat out Uniparty RINO and Deep State political hack. I think he\u2019s just been getting way to much bad advice from people who don\u2019t really have the best interests of the Republican Party, or the United States at heart.<\/p>\n Now the replacement bill, which was a lot smaller apparently, was also defeated. I suspect this was due to there not being any little goodies for the various whiny little Professional Politicians. A third one is now working its way through the process. Now what a lot of the political class is missing is that if the government isn\u2019t funded and is forced to close down for a few weeks, NO ONE IS GOING TO NOTICE OR CARE!!!<\/p>\n If the government does shut down, it will happen when pretty much everyone is out for the Christmas holidays. The next Congress will be sworn in on January 3rd<\/sup>, 2025 and they are the ones who are going to be putting together the new budget. President Trump will be sworn in on January 20th<\/sup>. In the mean time, the worst President in American History, Joe Biden, can actually try and do his job and sign the bill that arrives on his desk. (They will know he signed it due to the spilled pudding stains on the paper)<\/p>\n As for Elon Musk becoming Speaker of the House? While I would find it very amusing, as would millions of others including President Trump, I don\u2019t think he wants the job. He has a big job already, finding all the waste, useless agencies and departments and I suspect the massive amount of regulations on the books.
