Good day all. As part of locking down the border, President Trump has declared that the drug cartels are terrorist organizations. I wrote about this earlier<\/a>. Rather then pull back and rethink their life choices, it looks like the cartels have decided to really hike their stupidity.<\/p>\n


\n<\/p>\n

Now there are reports that the Cartels have ordered their Sicarios to use armed drones to target the border patrol. Here are the details from Fox News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n

Mexican drug cartels<\/a> are ordering their members to target U.S. Border Patrol agents with kamikaze drones and other explosives amid a crackdown at the southern border by the Trump administration.\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

An internal memo titled “Officer Safety Alert” cited social media posts and other sources for the warning to federal agents, the New York Post reported. Agents were reminded to be “cognizant of their surroundings” and should be wearing their ballistic armor and utilizing their long firearms. <\/b><\/p>\n

“On February 1, 2025, the El Paso Sector<\/a> Intelligence and Operations Center (EPT-IOC) received information advising that Mexican cartel leaders have authorized the deployment of drones equipped with explosives to be used against US Border Patrol agents and US military personnel currently working along the border with Mexico,” the memo, obtained by the newspaper, states.\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

“It is recommended that all US Border Patrol agents and DoD personnel working along the border report any sighting of drones to their respective leadership staff and the EPT-IOC,” it said.\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

Thanks to the Ukraine\/Russia war, we have seen just how dangerous drones are to infantry and vehicles. Everyone is looking at how to knock down drones. About the only thing that the Border patrol has that would be useful is a shotgun. I\u2019m worried that we will lose people.<\/p>\n

Last week, Border Patrol agents received gunfire from cartel members in Mexico while patrolling in Fronton, Texas, the Texas Department of Public Safety said. The cartel members fled Mexico because of a military presence and sought refuge on an island between Mexico and the U.S., DPS said.\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

Now the U.S. military is arriving on the border to assist the Border Security Patrol, both with catching illegals and also to secure the border. A lot of people will scream \u201cposse comitatus!\u201d and say that you can\u2019t use the Army for law enforcement. What they\u2019ve failed to understand is that the Army and Marines aren\u2019t there to arrest people, they\u2019re there to repel a foreign invasion. I don\u2019t know what their Rules of Engagement are, but since this is President Trump, I suspect it will be \u201cif fired on, return fire with everything you have.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cartel leaders have realized a proactive U.S. presence on the border could cut into their drug and human smuggling profits, the memo showed, according to the Post.\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

The goal isn\u2019t to cut into the profits, the goal is to end them. President Trump has declared the Drug Cartels as terrorist organizations and a threat to the United States. This means that we can send in the \u201cBig Boys.\u201d That would be the Navy SEALs, Special Forces Operational Detachment-D (Delta Force), and the Air Force. The Cartels have never dealt with Tier One forces who aren\u2019t there to arrest them. These teams are there to destroy them.<\/p>\n

Last week, U.S. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, suggested the idea of the U.S. green-lighting private parties to target drug cartels<\/a> for profit. <\/b><\/p>\n

“Congress could issue letters of marque and reprisal authorizing private security firms or specially trained civilians to intercept cartel operations, particularly those involving drug shipments or human trafficking across borders,” Lee wrote on X. “Focus on disrupting supply lines, capturing high-value targets, or seizing assets like boats, vehicles, cash, gold, or equipment used in criminal activities.” <\/b><\/p>\n

That would be an interesting idea. Letters of Marque and Reprisal used to be a big thing back in the 18th<\/sup> century and earlier. Instead of sending out a country\u2019s military force, usually the Navy, they would issue a Letter of Marque that authorized the holder to basically loot, pillage and destroy whoever the issuing government was at war with.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Lee suggested it would lower costs to American taxpayers, since privateers would be paid a portion of what they capture and bring back to the U.S. <\/b><\/p>\n

Considering what the Cartels have? We\u2019re looking at hundreds of billions. I can see a few Private Military Contractors, once they understand what they can and can\u2019t do, drooling over the chance loot the homes of a cartel leadership. In any case, we now have a president, again, who is ready to rain down Hell on the Cartels. As I said in the beginning of this post, the Cartels should sit down and rethink their business model as it applies to the United States. Somehow, I don\u2019t think they will.<\/p>\n
