Good day all. I stumbled across this story and thought it would be both a nice change of pace and a chance to gloat. A new report has come out on where the number one destination for pizza is and it\u2019s not where you would normally think it would be.<\/p>\n

Generally, when you think Pizza you think New York City or Chicago as the place to go. That may have been the case in the past. Now? It\u2019s the one place you wouldn\u2019t expect to go for pizza. Here are the details from Fox News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n

The No. 1 destination for pizza<\/a> in America isn’t New York. <\/b>And it’s not Chicago either. <\/b><\/p>\n

That distinction belongs to \u2026 New Hampshire. <\/b><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

As you might expect as a long time resident of the Granite State, I\u2019m going to be doing a little bit of gloating. Actually, I\u2019m going to be doing a lot of gloating.<\/p>\n

That’s right. Each U.S. state was ranked by how much it loves pizza, according to research from Maine Lobster Now.<\/b><\/p>\n

What a moment. Some lobster place did this research? I have a suspicion they were looking at Lobster and they discovered a trend regarding pizza and followed the trail.<\/p>\n

The study analyzed the number of pizzerias<\/a> per 100,000 residents, along with people’s interest in pizza, by using data from Google searches and the average price of pizza in each state.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One thing I can confirm is there are a lot of places to get pizza in New Hampshire. While we have the big chains, Domino\u2019s, Little Caesars, Papa Gino\u2019s and Papa John\u2019s, we have a lot more \u201cMom and Pop\u201d places. There are also a lot of supermarkets that make their own pizzas and sell it by the slice.<\/p>\n

Travel + Leisure reported<\/a> on the study and provided statements from Maine Lobster Now. “New Hampshire is the ultimate destination for pizza lovers,” Maine Lobster Now said in a statement provided to the publication. <\/b><\/p>\n

I looked at the Travel + Leisure<\/a> article and it goes into a lot more detail on the methodology of the survey. For instance:<\/p>\n

“New Hampshire is the ultimate destination for pizza lovers. With 1,022 pizzerias, that works out to an impressive 72.73 pizzerias per 100,000 residents\u2014the highest in the dataset,” Maine Lobster Now said in a statement obtained by <\/b>Travel + Leisure<\/b><\/em>. “Add in the high pizza enthusiasm of 22,512 pizza-related searches per 100,000 residents and a wallet-friendly average pizza price of $15.74, and you’ve got a state that ensures pizza enthusiasts have ample options at relatively affordable prices.”\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

As for New York? Yeah, they barely show up on the list, coming in at 29th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

The average pie in New York costs $19.73, making it one of the most expensive pies in the dataset. The state also only has roughly 19 pizzerias per 100,000 residents. <\/b><\/p>\n

I suspect that part of the reason for the low standing in the ratings is that both New York City and New York State are very anti-business and have driven a lot of old school pizza joints out of business. I also checked and Chicago isn\u2019t listed in any of the articles I\u2019ve found other then to mention that they didn\u2019t do well in the survey. (Probably due to Pritzker consuming all the pizza resources in Illinois)<\/p>\n
