To lock out over a thousand with no replacements can, under certain circumstances, bring a company down hard. Years ago, there was a video that came out where HR people were talking about how they were rigging the system to reject any American applicants for an opening and then using this to say that there as no American citizens available and that they needed to bring in an H1B worker.

Technically, that H1B worker was supposed to be paid the same amount as the American that “Wasn’t available,” but they never are. On average, an H1B visa holder will be paid significantly less then an American citizen or a permanent resident alien. They also know that the visa holder won’t complain for a simple reason. They can’t quit and go to another, better paying job. Their visa is bound to that particular employer. A more accurate term for these people is “Wage Slave.” Going back to the Populist Times story:

The sudden move followed an internal investigation that pointed to a Global Tech vice president at Walmart allegedly orchestrating a large-scale corruption scheme.

So, something caused the Walmart senior executives to start looking into why there were so many H1B tech workers. I have a suspicion that someone was paying attentions to the Trump administrations moves to round up and expel all the illegal aliens in the United States and how some in the administration were starting to look into the whole H1B visa set up.

In a statement provided to Breitbart News, Walmart responded: “Acting with Integrity is a core Walmart value that we hold every associate to, in every interaction. Earlier this month, following an investigation, Walmart terminated one vendor and a small number of U.S.-based associates.”

Interesting that they refer to 1200 H1B tech workers as a “Small number.” Granted, Walmart employs 1.6 million people in the United States, but at most, 1% will be tech workers. Another group that is going to get screwed are the visa holders themselves. I suspect most or all of them were acting in good faith, but now they have to leave the United States ASAP. Their visas are basically canceled and they are no longer legally valid. They will have a short grace period to close down things such as leases and other things, generally about 60 days. After that, they will be subject to deportation with all that entails.

Civil rights attorney Harmeet Dhillon called the reports “deeply concerning” in an August 25 post responding to demands that she look into the matter.

I wonder if she was aware of this beforehand or only found out when this was posted? If the latter, she is probably furious.

Days later, she urged Americans to report cases of improper H-1B hiring practices, though she did not weigh in directly on the corruption claims.

I don’t believe that Ms. Dhillon deals with immigration fraud cases in her role, at least not directly. You can bet that she is talking internally with those who do handle this sort of thing and that President Trump is also aware, and probably very unhappy.

The case has amplified criticism of the H-1B visa program, which critics argue allows corporations to displace American graduates with lower-paid foreign workers, particularly in technology fields.

The Populist Times story mirrors segments of the CTOL story on how who whole H1B visa program is basically set up to hide potential issues such as this. Apparently, someone made a mistake and caught the attention of Walmart’s “C” Suite people.

Other reports suggest the scandal may have first come to light after Indian cricketeer Kapil Dev was brought to a Walmart event in June. Dev had been placed on Caspex’s advisory board, raising questions inside Walmart leadership about the source of funds. According to American Bazaar, the high-profile appearance triggered an internal probe that ultimately exposed the alleged scheme.

I tried to identify who this Global Tech vice president may be, but there has been no public announcement from Walmart that I can find. It’s possible, probably likely, that no announcement can be made for legal reasons.

The controversy highlights broader issues facing the U.S. labor market. Roughly 1.5 million foreign contract workers are employed in white-collar positions through H-1B visas and other work programs.

I wasn’t aware that it was that many. That is 1.5 million Americans a Permanent Resident Aliens who aren’t being hired and instead cheaper and not always better qualified foreign labor are being used instead.

Critics argue the influx displaces American graduates and undermines long-term innovation. Kevin Lynn, founder of U.S. Tech Workers, said the kickback system has become normalized in many firms.

“For corporations that are not thinking long term, they’re being led down the road to mediocrity and diminishing market share, all of them,” Lynn noted.

One of the major issues with American corporations these days, especially among publicly traded companies is short term thinking. They rarely think beyond the next two quarters and are always looking for a way to cut costs. This tendency is most prominent with holders of MBA, (Masters of Business Administration) degrees.

Most of these MBA’s, which I call Masters of Business Annihilation, are big on theory but have no real experience. They’ve had their heads filled with drivel by professors who may not have actually ever worked in the Dreaded Private Sector. These are the ones pushing to bring in foreign workers.

The Walmart case remains under investigation. For now, the company has moved to cut ties with Caspex and dismissed the executive accused of taking kickbacks. However, the fallout continues to reverberate across the tech industry as critics point to the scandal as evidence of systemic corruption enabled by the H-1B visa pipeline.

That corruption was built into the system. Considering who put forward the legislation, I’m not at all surprised. The program was part of the Immigration Act of 1990 and was introduced by Senator Ted Kennedy. It was signed into law by Bush the Senior, another big surprise and we have been dealing with that whole mess, (Not just the H1B’s), ever since.

One of the things people want President Trump to look into, besides the illegal aliens and the H1B visas, is the entire immigration system. The current system is a complete mess and it needs to be overhauled. Actually, I think it needs to be scrapped and rebuilt from the ground up and the H1B visa system flat out ended.

This whole Walmart mess might just be the impetus to get things rolling. It’s time for people to start setting the phone lines to their senators and representatives on fire. With the midterm election season coming up, and the majority of people fully on board with removing all the illegals. This might be our best chance.

Thatisall

(4 votes, average: 5.00 out of 5)
Loading...

~The Angry Webmaster~

Good day all.
