Wednesday, November 19th<\/sup>, news broke of Representative Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, (D-FLA) being indicted on charges of fraud. It is alleged she stole some $5 million dollars from the taxpayers. Here are the details from Fox News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n A Miami grand jury indicted Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, D-Fla., on charges of allegedly stealing millions of dollars in disaster relief funds to make illegal campaign contributions, the Department of Justice said Wednesday. <\/b><\/p>\n According to the indictment, the Florida Democrat allegedly conspired to steal $5 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds alongside her brother Edwin Cherfilus and numerous co-defendants. <\/b><\/p>\n What in the world were these to thinking? I looked Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick and she was elected to replace another crooked Democrat, Alcee Hastings. He was a judge who was impeached, convicted and removed from the bench. However, he decided that running for office was a great way to improve his financial standing as well as spit in the face of Congress.<\/p>\n Prosecutors alleged that the defendants routed the funds through multiple accounts to disguise their source and that a significant portion of the misappropriated funds were used as candidate contributions<\/a> to Cherfilus-McCormick\u2019s 2021 congressional campaign or for their personal benefit. <\/b><\/p>\n This appears to have happened after the most corrupt and incompetent administration in American history was installed into office after the Tainted Election of 2020 and the greatest looting spree on the American treasury ever commenced.<\/p>\n The Democrat could face up to 53 years in prison if convicted. <\/b><\/p>\n It would be nice if she was convicted, that she served every single day of that potential sentence.<\/p>\n “Using disaster relief funds for self-enrichment is a particularly selfish, cynical crime,” Attorney General Pam Bondi<\/a> said in a statement. “No one is above the law, least of all powerful people who rob taxpayers for personal gain. We will follow the facts in this case and deliver justice.” <\/b><\/p>\n Both Cherfilus-McCormick and her brother worked through their family healthcare company on a FEMA-funded COVID-19 vaccination staffing contract<\/a> in 2021, according to the indictment. The company received an overpayment of $5 million in FEMA funds in July 2021, prosecutors alleged. <\/b><\/p>\n Now an honest company would have contacted FEMA and said that \u201cHey! You sent us more money then we expected. Do you want us to send it back?\u201d For the Democrats, that thought doesn\u2019t even cross their minds. As far as they\u2019re concerned, they deserve the money. Now it might have made a differences if they had actually used the overpayment to provide services. That doesn\u2019t seem to be what Cherfilus-McCormick did.<\/p>\n FBI Director\u00a0Kash Patel<\/a> immediately posted on X that Cherfilus-McCormick and her family “allegedly stole money from FEMA and then laundered it through friends toward her own personal benefits \u2013 including her campaign accounts.” <\/b><\/p>\n So she knew, allegedly, (Have to remember that she is considered innocent until found guilty), that what she was doing was wrong and illegal.<\/p>\n The indictment also states that Cherfilus-McCormick and Nadege Leblanc allegedly fixed contributions using straw donors and channeled funds from a FEMA-funded COVID-19 contract to their associates, who used it to make campaign donations. <\/b><\/p>\n So we also have violations of campaign finance laws? I wonder if she paid taxes on her ill gotten gains?<\/p>\n Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., shared on X that he will be filing a motion to censure Cherfilus-McCormick and remove her from all committees. <\/b><\/p>\n “This is one of the most egregious abuses of public trust I have ever seen,” he asserted. <\/b><\/p>\n Instead of a motion to censure, how about kicking her crooked ass out of the House of Representatives? I would love to see the Democrats in the House trying to protect her. Personally, the Democrat Party will probably decide that she will be the perfect sacrificial lamb for the Republicans and maybe, they won\u2019t nail Eric Swalwell to the wall as well.<\/p>\n The Republican Party of Florida, in an X post, immediately called on Cherfilus-McCormick to resign, writing, “This is absolutely disgusting. She must step down NOW!” <\/b><\/p>\n Well at least someone has the right idea. Get that crooked cow out of the House and perhaps the GOP can replace her with a Republican. Probably not since this is the same district that put the corrupt Alcee Hastings in office.<\/p>\n Cherfilus-McCormick\u2019s office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital\u2019s request for comment. <\/b><\/p>\n That isn\u2019t surprising. Anything they say can and will be used against the defendant in a court of law. It seems that this isn\u2019t the first problem Cherfilus-McCormick has had either. She was elected for the first time in 2022 and had barely been sworn in when she was hit with ethics violations regarding her campaign finances. Now it looks like the ethics charges have evolved into criminal charges.
