When she was AG of Florida, she didn’t seem to have a problem with the Red Flag law they were pushing through.

Since she became the Attorney General of the United States, we have seen the DoJ going pro-Second Amendment in one case and just the opposite in another. One of these cases revolves around the NFA and the tax stamps on suppressors, short barreled rifles and other items that Congress zeroed out in the Big Beautiful Bill.

Before President Trump’s signature on the bill was even dry, the first lawsuits to end all the registration requirements on these items were filed. Then there was a large segment of Congress who sent a signed letter to Bondi telling her that ending the registration was the intent of the law. Now the reason for all this was the Supreme Court decision back in the day upholding the NFA and all the registration requirements as a means to collect the $200 tax. No tax being collected means no reason for all the registration requirements.

The Bondi DoJ came down in favor of keeping the registration requirements and in such a way that, if upheld, would basically give Washington absolute control over far more then just NFA items. On the flip side, the DoJ just came down on the side of Plaintiffs trying to overturn Hawaii’s virtual ban on carrying firearms in the state. You can see the problem. Now the DoJ has announced it will form a section to protect the civil rights of firearm owners. Here are the details from Newsmax:

The Justice Department plans to expand gun-rights protections with a new office in its civil rights division dedicated to enforcing the U.S. constitutional right to bear arms, according to plans shared with Congress and reviewed by Reuters.

The office, called the Second Amendment Rights Section, expects to open on Dec. 4 and will be dedicated to investigating local laws or policies limiting gun rights.

Ok, how about investigating federal laws limiting the 2nd Amendment rights of American citizens?

The section intends to execute the broad policy directions from a February executive order issued by President Donald Trump directing Attorney General Pam Bondi to comb the entire U.S. government to “assess any ongoing infringements” of gun rights.

Currently, the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division is run by Harmeet Dhillon. What usually happens is a couple of bad apples cause issues or you have some a few cases where some race baiting moonbat whines for getting a traffic ticket and the local government gets the DoJ to shove something down the department’s throat.

I’ve already heard one report that a former, disgruntled DoJ Civil Rights Division lawyer is upset. The lawyer thinks that defending people’s constitutional rights to keep and bear arms under the 2nd Amendment is a bad idea and will detract from the mission of the CRD which is to punish anyone who is white. That was always the problem with the Civil Rights Division. They only believed in civil rights for some people, not everyone. Will the DoJ finally start defending the constitutional rights of American gun owners? They will also need to seriously review some of their current briefs with the court that go against the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment.
