I\u2019ve covered the CBS News divisions reaction<\/a> to the hiring of their new boss, Bari Weiss. To say that the News Division was unhappy would be an understatement. Now it looks like things may be coming to a head. On Sunday, Bari pulled a 60 minutes hit piece. She wrote an internal memo saying that more work needed to be done on it. This set off the Communists in the News division. Here are the details from Fox News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n A last-minute decision by CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss to yank a planned investigative segment about allegations of abuses at the notorious El Salvador prison CECOT<\/a> has caused an outcry and also a sharp rebuke from the segment’s reporter. <\/b><\/p>\n The segment “Inside CECOT” was going to feature correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi<\/b> <\/b>interviewing “some of the now released deportees, who describe the brutal and torturous conditions,” and was promoted by CBS heading into the weekend. “60 Minutes” airs on Sunday nights. <\/b><\/p>\n As I said, it was going to be a hit piece. It\u2019s no secret that this prison is not a country club. It\u2019s where El Salvador puts the worst of the worst. It also doesn\u2019t have any Americans in it that I know of. However, the hit piece had some serious, as in CBS could get sued again, issues.<\/p>\n But CBS announced Sunday that the segment was being held and would air in a future broadcast, reportedly due to concerns about not yet having an on-the-record response from the Trump administration for the newsmagazine segment. <\/b><\/p>\n Usually, when 60 minutes puts together a hit piece and they don\u2019t want to hear from the target of the piece, they will put out a disclaimer that they reached out but had not had a response by air time. What that usually means is they called someone 2 minutes before the hit piece is about to go on the air and left a voice mail.<\/p>\n A CBS spokesperson told Fox News Digital it was determined the segment needed “additional reporting.” It is highly unusual for a pre-planned report to be pulled that close to airing. <\/b><\/p>\n There is a reason for this. You now have new owners and new management and they aren\u2019t going to let you get away with the same crap you\u2019ve been doing for the last 30 years. Now you have someone who is an actual reporter is now in charge with a mandate to fix the disaster that is CBS News.<\/p>\n “My job is to make sure that all stories we publish are the best they can be.\u00a0Holding stories that aren\u2019t ready for whatever reason \u2014 that they lack sufficient context, say, or that they are missing critical voices \u2014 happens every day in every newsroom. I look forward to airing this important piece when it\u2019s ready,” Weiss said in a statement. <\/b><\/p>\n And that was a shot across the bow of the Stage IV TDS sufferers of CBS News and 60 minutes. They refused to submit and arranged to have the episode streamed in Canada. This was done in violation of the Editor in Chief\u2019s instructions. These moonbats flat out didn\u2019t care.<\/p>\n In a remarkable note<\/a> to fellow “60 Minutes” staffers that quickly leaked to the media, Alfonsi said her segment was being held for political reasons, not editorial ones. <\/b>Alfonsi said Weiss had “spiked” the story and not given her a chance to discuss it further. <\/b><\/p>\n “Our story was screened five times and cleared by both CBS attorneys and Standards and Practices,” Alfonsi wrote. “It is factually correct. In my view, pulling it now, after every rigorous internal check has been met, is not an editorial decision, it is a political one.” <\/b><\/p>\n Are these the same internal checkers that approved the Kamala Harris \u201cInterview?\u201d The one that cost Paramount $16 million dollars?<\/p>\n She added that “60 Minutes” made requests for comment to the White House, Department of Homeland Security, and the State Department. Their silence was their statement, she wrote, and allowing that to delay the story was effectively giving them veto power. <\/b><\/p>\n “If the administration\u2019s refusal to participate becomes a valid reason to spike a story, we have effectively handed them a \u2018kill switch\u2019 for any reporting they find inconvenient,” she wrote. <\/b><\/p>\n I haven\u2019t seen the hit piece and I don\u2019t plan to. The Progressive Liberal Democrats claiming to be \u201cIndependent Journalists\u201d have made their feelings known. They will do whatever it takes to bring down President Trump, destroy the idea of Making America Great Again and impose their views on the country.<\/p>\n They have also flat out declared war on Bari Weiss and Skydance. There is no way that Bari Weiss or the Ellisons can let this slide. I suspect that an internal investigation is already underway to find out who leaked the memos and, more importantly, arranged for the hit piece to be streamed in Canada.<\/p>\n This won\u2019t lead to people being suspended for a few weeks, it will lead to flat out terminations for cause. The rot inside CBS News is deep and I\u2019m not sure that Ms. Weiss can deal with it on her own. It may take the Ellisons coming in and doing a \u201cTwitter\u201d after Elon Musk took over. (He fired 70% of the staff) It isn\u2019t beyond the realm of possibility that 60 minutes might even be canceled.<\/p>\n CBS News has no credibility with most people in the United States and it\u2019s things like this that reinforce that belief. If anything is going to happen, it will be after the new year. Personally, I hope there are mass terminations including some of the senior people in the New Division who are opposing both Weiss and the Ellisons.<\/p>\n No sooner then I finish this post then news comes out that Bari Weiss is going to do a reorg of the News division and 60 minutes lied that they didn’t have a response from the administration.
