Greetings one and all. This is the Angry Systems Administrator. Recently, I talked about activating Google Analytics<\/a>. I also mentioned that I was looking at setting up Google\u2019s Adsense. At the time, I wasn\u2019t certain that it would even be allowed.<\/p>\n


\n<\/p>\n

Well, Anger Central were approved, or should that be re-approved. I activated Adsense about a week r so ago. Originally I just took the defaults. Then I saw what Adsense was doing and No Way! I was looking for simple, unobtrusive and not in your face. The defaults was blasting ads all over the place. Needless to say, I shut them off.<\/p>\n

I went back into the Adsense desktop and started digging around. I couldn\u2019t set things the way I wanted exactly, so I set up an add that pops up from the foot of the site and can be easily minimized. There is another one I need to review that seems to open up when moving between pages.<\/p>\n

Now the good news is that these ads can be very easily blocked with an ad blocker. I use Ublock, Ghostery and Popup Blocker. They kill the ads quite nicely so you don\u2019t need to look at them. Firefox also seems to have some sort of built in tool that blocks the ads.<\/p>\n

As you can see, I\u2019m not upset if you block the ads. Frankly, that is our policy when it comes to advertising. Feel free to block it. That is your absolute right. Unlike other sites, we don\u2019t \u201cpunish\u201d you for not looking at ads. It\u2019s not like we expect to get rich on them anyway. Since I turned them on, it looks like we\u2019ve made $0.27 cents. As of a few minutes ago, we made a massive $0.01 today.<\/p>\n

We also do the occasional link to Amazon<\/a>. We used to have very nice little ads from Amazon, but they changed things, making it really difficult to use them these days. No one clicks on those links anyway and so we don\u2019t make any money from them these days. Oh well. This only upsets the Anger Central Chief Financial Officer.<\/p>\n

Now for something truly important. COFFEE!<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve decided to go electric on percolator coffee pots. I recently ordered the Presto 02811 Stainless Steel Electric Coffee Percolator<\/a> and it should be arriving this weekend. The reviews look good and I got a good deal on it. I\u2019m also looking at an electric coffee grinder. I don\u2019t have any issues with the manual grinder<\/a> I recently bought. It works fine. I\u2019m just lazy. I\u2019m still doing research, but the Hamilton Beach Electric Burr Coffee Grinder<\/a> looks like the one I\u2019m probably going to get. I\u2019ve actually retired my Mr. Coffee Automatic Drip Coffee<\/a> maker.<\/p>\n

So, here we are with updates on the back end of Anger Central. If you find the ads to be intrusive or bothersome, please, feel free to use an ad blocker. When I\u2019m testing the ad settings, I have to remember to deactivate the ones I\u2019m using. In the mean time, I have a fresh pot of coffee to consume.<\/p>\n
