Greetings everyone. This is the Angry Systems Administrator. Last night at 01:00 hours Eastern Standard Time, while most people were happily asleep, the clocks were all reset forward one hour. When we all woke up, we all suddenly realized \u201cOh Shit!! I\u2019m late!\u201d for whatever you had planned to do.<\/p>\n

I was one of these people. I simply forgot that the clocks all jumped forward, and when I woke up I saw my phone didn\u2019t match my alarm clock. Needless to say I had someplace to be and if I was going to make it, I would have to forego certain, critical, must occur or bad things happen, items.<\/p>\n
Like making my morning coffee.<\/p>\n
I had planned on some major scheduled upgrades to the Anger Central Data Center, especially after what happened to Amazon this week. Installing anti-drone systems is not something I want to do when I\u2019m sleepy and cranky. Fortunately, there is a Dunks on the way to the DC, so I was able to get a couple of extra large coffees. I\u2019ve also started up the office percolator I just acquired. (This one is electric and I\u2019m working on a review now)<\/p>\n The idea of Daylight Savings Time can be blamed on Benjamin Franklin. According to Grok:<\/p>\n The concept of shifting clocks to make better use of daylight dates back to Benjamin Franklin in 1784. In a satirical essay written while in Paris, he jokingly suggested Parisians could save candle wax by rising earlier to use morning sunlight\u2014though this was not a serious proposal for clock changes.<\/b><\/p>\n It was World War 1 when a formal implementation of Daylight Savings Time was instituted. It was ended after the war. It was re-implemented for World War Two. Once the war was over, DST was repealed. Then it was re-instituted in 1966 under the Johnson Administration. I find it interesting that each time it was activated, it was by a Democrat President.<\/p>\n During the 1973 oil embargo by OPEC in the 1970\u2019s, the Nixon administration had the absolutely brilliant idea of making it a year round thing, not just during the summer hours. People were not happy.<\/p>\n During the 1973 oil embargo, Congress tried an energy-saving experiment with year-round DST:<\/b><\/p>\n It began in January 1974 (under the Emergency Daylight Saving Time Energy Conservation Act, signed by President Nixon).<\/b><\/p>\n Extended through most of 1975.<\/b><\/p>\n Public backlash was strong\u2014especially over dark winter mornings affecting schoolchildren’s safety and morning commutes\u2014so it ended in April 1975, reverting to standard seasonal DST.<\/b><\/p>\n Just another reason to hate Nixon and the Government. In 1986, the government designated the current date, the Second Sunday in March and this is where things stand now. Most people do not see the need for this and frankly want it gone. Of course, the \u201cAll knowing and All Powerful Central Government of the United States\u201d knows what\u2019s best for \u201cThe People.\u201d<\/p>\n In any case, I made it to the DC and have been doing the scheduled maintenance. My entire day is shot though since I now have to make up for all the things I had planned for earlier and slept through. As for the moron who owns this place<\/i><\/span> Angry Webmaster? That useless layabout is probably still asleep. Honestly, that is a good thing. It keeps him out of my way and I don\u2019t have to fix everything he screws up trying to \u201cImprove\u201d things.
