For the last week or so, Cuba has been blacked out. Their entire electric grid has collapsed. This has led to the Cuban people to start protesting. There is a fair chance that the Communist government could finally fall.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i.pinimg.com\/736x\/28\/40\/9a\/28409a90cbf444d54411ba2672500912.jpg?resize=362%2C367&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"362\" height=\"367\" \/><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>As to whether or not the Communist government will fall has yet to be determined, however, it appears that Secretary of State may be angling for yet another job. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsmax.com\/politics\/rubio-cuba-power-outage\/2026\/03\/17\/id\/1249810\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Here are the details from Newsmax<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><b>Large parts of Cuba were without power on Tuesday after its third blackout in four months underscored the island&#8217;s deepening energy and economic crises and rising political tensions with President Donald Trump.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i.pinimg.com\/736x\/6b\/0d\/dd\/6b0dddb274a5b4997aa642ad950cde6f.jpg?resize=418%2C487&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"418\" height=\"487\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Apparently, power is slowly coming back on, at least for hospitals. As for the rest of the people? They\u2019re still in the dark.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><b>Cuba&#8217;s aging grid has drastically eroded in recent years, leading to daily outages and an increase in significant blackouts.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>But that grid is a masterpiece of Communist engineering! It can\u2019t fail. It is forbidden for it to fail! Now if Fidel were still alive, he would have had the power grid executed for failing in ist\u2019s socialist duty to the State!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><b>The government blames its woes on a U.S. energy blockade after Trump in January warned of tariffs on any country that sells or provides oil to Cuba.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>There is no blockade of Cuba and hasn\u2019t been one since the Missile Crises that almost led to a nuclear World War. What\u2019s happening is that Cuba is broke. They have no money and can\u2019t pay for the fuel they need. Up until recently, Venezuela was pretty much gifting them the fuel they needed to keep the lights on. When Operation Yoink took place and Maduro was removed, those gifts stopped.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i.pinimg.com\/736x\/d1\/5c\/37\/d15c37640c8fc05e03c5acc6c678bece.jpg?resize=388%2C341&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"388\" height=\"341\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><b>Trump was asked during a meeting Tuesday in the Oval Office with the prime minister of Ireland about the U.S. seeking regime change in Cuba but deferred to his Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><b>Rubio, who himself is of Cuban heritage, said the island \u201chas an economy that doesn\u2019t work in a political and governmental system. They can\u2019t fix it.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201c<b>So they have to change dramatically,\u201d Rubio said. \u201cWhat they announced yesterday is not dramatic enough. Trump has also raised the possibility of a \u201cfriendly takeover of Cuba.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Well that won\u2019t happen. Taking over Cuba would mean we would have to clean up the mess. However, if Cuba were to request to join the United States, if only as a territory, then guess who will be asked to take on yet another job?<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter \" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i.pinimg.com\/736x\/5c\/bb\/33\/5cbb338c26482acd6b13566df8b9c308.jpg?resize=405%2C438&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"405\" height=\"438\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><b>While Cuba produces 40% of its petroleum and has been generating its own power, it hasn\u2019t been sufficient to meet demand as its electric grid continues to crumble.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>That is only part of the problem. The other issue is parts and equipment. Cuba doesn\u2019t have any spares and they are basically <a href=\"https:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/wordplay\/what-does-macgyver-mean-slang-definition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MacGyvering<\/a> solutions that will et the job done for now, but simply won\u2019t last.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>The city&#8217;s, (Havana), residents are concerned about food spoiling and simply trying to maneuver in homes with no lighting.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201c<b>The power outages are driving me crazy,\u201d said 48-year-old Dalba Obiedo. \u201cLast night I fell down a 27-step staircase. Now I have to have surgery on my jaw. I fell because the lights went out.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p>There have been videos coming out on Socialist media showing protests with thousands of people involved. People are not just angry, they are enraged. The other issue is the security system put in place by Castro. It\u2019s also weakening. If the tools of repression are no longer functioning, then the collapse of the government is just a matter of time.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i.pinimg.com\/736x\/ea\/23\/fc\/ea23fc317950a351b6133aa54935691a.jpg?resize=400%2C264&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"400\" height=\"264\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><b>Havana resident Tom\u00e1s David Vel\u00e1zquez Felipe, 61, said the relentless outages make him think that Cubans who can should just pack up and leave the island. \u201cWhat little we have to eat spoils,\u201d he said. \u201cOur people are too old to keep suffering.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p>While I don\u2019t disagree, the only permanent solution is removal of the communist government and moving to some form of Democracy. It won\u2019t be easy, but if the communist regime collapses and someone takes over who has a plan and intends to bring a democratic government to the island, there will be a massive influx of money.<\/p>\n<p>Not so much from the United States government, although we will end all sanctions, but from all the Cubans who fled the island\u2019s communist workers paradise and built up new lives in the United States. They still have family in Cuba. They will bring in money, resources and ideas. Cuba could be a vacation paradise, just to start with.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/i.pinimg.com\/736x\/54\/6f\/1b\/546f1b787caf73c861b2f682c9559931.jpg?resize=480%2C299&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"480\" height=\"299\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That would require massive building projects and a lot of jobs. If things really start improving, then more investments will come in and all sorts of potential new businesses will open. We\u2019re beginning to see this happen in Venezuela and there is no reason that it can\u2019t happen in Cuba.
