This has led a few unions to back President Trump and his goal of restoring American manufacturing. Granted, a lot of these jobs won\u2019t go to unions, but it will mean more jobs available to Americans, union or not. However, a report has come out claiming that one union said it would support President Trump, but actually has been working with the Democrats. Here are the details from Fox News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n One of the nation\u2019s most prominent railroad unions is facing new scrutiny after a watchdog report alleged its leadership is quietly working against the political views of its members who support President Donald Trump’s<\/a> agenda.<\/b><\/p>\n The report, released by the American Accountability Foundation (AAF), claims the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET), one of the nation\u2019s oldest labor unions, is run by leaders who are endorsing and promoting Democratic policies and candidates despite a membership base that data suggests largely supports the president.<\/b><\/p>\n The report, which alleges the union “betrayed” its MAGA members, points to the union\u2019s endorsement of the Harris-Walz ticket in the 2024 election cycle, as well as its ties to prominent Democrats, including Sen. Bernie Sanders<\/a>, I-Vt., and former Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, who is running for Senate again.<\/b><\/p>\n Obviously, I have no idea on the validity of this report. I\u2019m not a union member, never have been and never will be. I am of the opinion that unions have, in general, outlived their usefulness and in many cases, are an actual detriment to the working people who are part of a union.<\/p>\n While BLET has touted Republicans in recent years, including earlier this year when it applauded<\/a> Vice President JD Vance and the bipartisan reintroduction of the Railway Safety Act (RSA), the report highlights repeated criticism of Trump-era policies, including transportation regulations, immigration enforcement and the conservative-backed Project 2025 agenda, alongside praise for the policies of the Biden administration.<\/b><\/p>\n Project 2025 was something cooked up by a conservative think tank that was nothing more then a wish list. There were some elements in it that a lot of people could get behind, but there was also a lot more that people, including President Trump, pretty much laughed at. What it was good for was trolling the Democrats.<\/p>\n The Fox story goes on to quote a number of Socialist media posts made by the union in favor of Dementia Joe Biden. It also financially supported the Democrats and Biden.<\/p>\n The union\u2019s public support of Democrats had a financial angle as well, as the report states that the organization spent more than $26 million on political activity in recent years, with the vast majority supporting Democratic candidates and causes to a degree that AAF referred to as “shocking.” According to the report, 99% of the union\u2019s party committee donations went to Democrats.<\/b><\/p>\n This isn\u2019t surprising since Union bigwigs are generally neck deep in the Democrat Party troughs. The Democrats arrange things to allow the unions to get more money and the unions then kick back some of that money to the Democrats. However, this goes against the wishes of the union Rank and File.<\/p>\n According to the report, the divide reflects a broader shift in American politics, with blue-collar workers increasingly backing Trump while union leadership remains entrenched in traditional left-leaning positions.<\/b><\/p>\n Left leaning? Try hard left Socialist\/Communist leanings. The report then moves over to general spending by the union leadership, listing how the leaders spend millions on things that have little to nothing to do with the Union.<\/p>\n “While it\u2019s bad enough that BLET spent over $5,000,000 on hotels and conferences, even more concerning is the fact that the union spent over $2,000,000 on casinos and resorts alone,” the report says. “The union appears more concerned with staying at entertaining destination resorts than they do being thrifty with their members\u2019 dues.”<\/b><\/p>\n “The men pulling America\u2019s freight voted for President Trump because they believe in secure borders and putting American workers first,” AAF President Tom Jones said in a statement to Fox News Digital.<\/b><\/p>\n “But their union bosses are busy living large on member dues and carrying water for the Left. They\u2019ve turned a blue-collar brotherhood into a woke political machine that\u2019s doing everything it can against the Trump-Vance agenda, and likewise, against everyday railroad workers. Every BLET member should be asking where their hard-earned dollars are really going.”\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n It won\u2019t matter. Getting rid of union leadership is almost impossible. It usually requires an indictment or setting them up with a meeting with Jimmy Hoffa. The BLET is pretty much like most unions in the United States. Hard left and corrupt. About the only way to really end things is to have the members decertify the union. Still, perhaps the members will read all this and decide to take action.
