With the collapse of Communist East Europe, and the rise of the European Union, people started wondering about why NATO was needed, especially in the United States since we were paying for most of it. Then came September 11, 2001 and for the first time the NATO defense treaty was activated.<\/p>\n
The United States went into Afghanistan as did troops from member nations. For the most part, those troops were basically useless. (Some were quite useful, such as the British and the Poles) Eventually they all pulled out and left everything to us. When President Trump took office the first time, he looked at NATO and who was paying for everything and basically told the Europeans that the free ride was over.<\/p>\n

It was then that a lot of people started looking at why we were still there and looking at the costs involved. For the most part, the western NATO nations have trashed their military forces. Others, such as Poland, took a look at what Putin was doing, especially in the Ukraine and decided that they were going to get rid of their old communist junk and buy American. The rest of the original NATO countries? Still not interested.<\/p>\n
Then President was reelected in 2024 and he announced that the free lunch was over. Europe, begrudgingly, began increasing their expenditures slightly. Then came Operation Epic Fury and the United States finally dealing with the Islamic whackjobs in Iran. The EU, which gets a lot of it\u2019s oil through the Strait of Hormuz, wasn\u2019t to happy with the United States and Israel taking out Iran\u2019s military, government and nuclear research centers.<\/p>\n

Finally things started coming to a head when the German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, said it was OK for Iran to have nuclear weapons<\/a>. This was after Iran fired a couple of missiles at the US base at Diego Garcia, which was supposed to be far out of range of what the Iranians had claimed. (Yes, they lied) Those missiles could also hit Europe. With Merz basically siding with Iran\u2019s radical Islamic government, President Trump finally said enough and has ordered 5,000 U.S. troops to return to the United States. Here are some of the details from Fox News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n The Pentagon will withdraw 5,000 U.S. troops from Germany<\/a>, a spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital. <\/b>The redeployment comes amid President Donald Trump<\/a>‘s escalating feud with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and other NATO allies after tensions over their response to the conflict involving Iran.<\/b><\/p>\n “The Secretary of War has ordered the withdrawal of approximately 5,000 troops from Germany,” chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell told Fox News Digital.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n “This decision follows a thorough review of the Department\u2019s force posture in Europe and is in recognition of theater requirements and conditions on the ground.<\/b><\/p>\n “We expect the withdrawal to be completed over the next six to 12 months.”<\/b><\/p>\n There are about 38,000 American soldiers in Germany. They\u2019re stationed in and around Ramstein Air Base along with their families. This is also not the first time that President Trump has tried to reduce our footprint in Europe.<\/p>\n The U.S. troop presence in Germany has been a point of political debate in recent years. In 2020, Trump ordered the withdrawal of roughly 12,000 troops from the country, but the plan faced bipartisan resistance in Congress and was not completed before President Joe Biden took office.<\/b><\/p>\n And, of course, Dementia Joe reversed the order. We are seeing some push back from the usual suspects, but there are a lot of people who are tired of the Europeans sponging off the American taxpayers and being completely ungrateful. (Except Poland of course) Then you have the EU going full dictatorship and literally jailing people for speaking their minds.<\/p>\n Merz, speaking Monday in Marsberg, criticized the U.S. approach to Iran<\/a>, saying Washington was being “humiliated by the Iranian leadership” and expressing hope the conflict would end “as quickly as possible.”<\/b><\/p>\n That stupid idiot has no problem with Iran having nukes, as long as none of them are used on Germany. All he cares about is his oil and gas. He also has demonstrated his contempt of the United States and President Trump. Did he really think that President Trump would just take that lying down?<\/p>\n Trump\u2019s comments followed those remarks, marking the latest flash point between the two leaders, who have previously clashed on issues, including tariffs and defense spending<\/a>.<\/b><\/p>\n The Germans don\u2019t want to spend any money on their own defense. In fact, they have so gutted their military that it\u2019s in worse shape then after the Treaty of Versailles.<\/p>\n On Wednesday, Trump said in a Truth Social post his administration was “studying and reviewing the possible<\/a> reduction of Troops in Germany,” adding that a decision would be made “over the next short period of time.”<\/b><\/p>\n That short time was probably about 20 minutes. As President Trump was announcing this, he was also lambasting Merz.<\/p>\n “The Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, thinks it\u2019s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon<\/a>,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Tuesday.<\/b><\/p>\n Apparently so, and he seems to not have been paying any attention to the two IRBM\u2019s that Iran launched. You know, the one\u2019s they said they had no intention of developing? As I recall, Berlin was in range of them.<\/p>\n “He doesn\u2019t know what he\u2019s talking about! If Iran had a Nuclear Weapon, the whole World would be held hostage.<\/b><\/p>\n Here I would disagree with President Trump slightly. If Iran developed nuclear weapons, they would keep it very quiet until they had at least a dozen. Then they would deploy them into Israel and the United States. Not by missile, especially since Israel is rather good at shooting Iranian missiles down, but more than likely by ship.<\/p>\n The same thing would happen in the United States. Then it would be a matter of seeing they could get the weapons onto trucks and spread them around the country. Once they had everything set up?<\/p>\n If Iran ever gets nuclear weapons, Iran will use them. This is one of the reasons why the United States and Israel have pretty much destroyed Iran\u2019s military, blocked their oil exports, flattened all the factories that make drones and missiles and killed off most of their leadership.<\/p>\n “I am doing something with Iran, right now, that other Nations, or Presidents, should have done long ago. No wonder Germany is doing so poorly<\/a>, both Economically, and otherwise!”<\/b><\/p>\n The closest we came was operation Praying Mantis. That was back when President Reagan sank half the Iranian navy. (He was being \u201cProportional\u201d in his response) President Trump decided that being proportional is why Iran was able to enrich Uranium to near weapons grade.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
