Good day all. I first saw this idea a month or so ago. The Department of Homeland Security has come up with a way to punish Sanctuary Cities that, if implemented, would really really hurt.<\/p>\n


\n<\/p>\n

The idea is fairly simple. Most of the airports that handle international flights are in sanctuary cities. The plan, if implemented, would pull all Immigration, Customs and Border security personnel from the airports. Without these people in place, there would be no one to process arriving visitors. With no way to accept inbound foreign nationals, the planes wouldn\u2019t be able to land at these airports.<\/p>\n

The idea is starting to garner support from members of congress. Of course, none of those members who support this plan are Democrats. Here are the details from Fox News<\/b><\/a>:<\/p>\n

Republican senators signaled support for imposing consequences on sanctuary cities after Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin<\/a> floated a proposal to pull Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers from airports in jurisdictions that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.<\/b><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“I think there should be consequences to cities and states that undercut federal law,” Sen. Lindsey Graham<\/a>, R-S.C., told Fox News Digital. “I think they should pay a price for what they do. I agree with what he\u2019s doing.”<\/b><\/p>\n

Well, I see that Graham has pulled hi finger out of his ass, held it up and has determined which way the wind is blowing again. Not long ago, this RINO was pushing amnesty for illegal aliens.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Mullin has framed the proposal as a response to sanctuary cities that are limiting or refusing cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and disputes over immigration enforcement funding.<\/b><\/p>\n

Now there is no constitutional requirement for state and local jurisdictions to assist in the enforcement of federal laws. However, the Sanctuary cities and states are actively interfering with Federal Immigration agents, to the point where they are putting dangerous criminals back on the street. This has led a number of people to suggest that if local officials won\u2019t simply pick up the phone to notify ICE, then they shouldn\u2019t be getting any federal money. That includes providing certain non-safety related services to air travel.<\/p>\n

The plan has received mounting backlash from Democrats as pulling these agents from blue city airports would halt all international travel<\/a> into major airports. Without customs agents, passengers and cargo are unable to travel internationally, and would also impact Americans coming back to the United States after travelling overseas.<\/b><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy also expressed opposition to the idea, emphasizing the need for open travel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I can\u2019t say I\u2019m surprised at that. Duffy\u2019s job is to keep all forms of transportation going in the United States. Pulling Customs agents from airports will put a major damper on being able to move about internationally.<\/p>\n

But, Mullin still says the idea is on the table and actively being considered.<\/b><\/p>\n

“I think it\u2019s a choice that those cities make and they\u2019d have to weigh the consequences of it,” Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Neb., said. “If they want to be a sanctuary city, they\u2019ve made that choice and they\u2019re getting a response now from Homeland Security.”<\/b><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Of course, other Republicans, some slightly squishy, want more information.<\/p>\n

Other GOP senators<\/a> said they had not yet reviewed the proposal and wanted additional details before weighing in.<\/b><\/p>\n

“I don’t know about this,” Sen. Josh Hawley, R-MO., said. “S<\/i>omebody else asked me about that, and I hadn\u2019t seen that from him yet. So I don’t know. I don\u2019t know what to make of that.”<\/b><\/p>\n

What is so hard to understand? Since the Sanctuary cities are aiding criminals, why should the American taxpayers reward them for doing so?<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m gonna find out what\u2019s going on,” Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska<\/a>, said.<\/b><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Murkowski doesn\u2019t need to find out what\u2019s going on. She\u2019s automatically opposed to it.<\/p>\n

Mullin was grilled last week during a Senate hearing about these threats to pull officers from major city airports, where Democrats referred to the idea as “outrageous” and “insane,” citing the likelihood of chaos and devastating impacts to the economy as a result of the projected high travel rates that would be effectively killed throughout the upcoming summer months.<\/b><\/p>\n

Well, yeah, that is the whole idea you idiots.<\/p>\n

Fischer was also asked whether the proposal, if implemented, would change how sanctuary cities communicate and cooperate with ICE.<\/b><\/p>\n

Oh I don\u2019t know. Maybe the mayors and city councils might actually START communicating and cooperating with ICE? Then the Customs people would be sent back to the airports and things can return to normal.<\/p>\n

The proposal comes as the U.S. prepares to host millions of international visitors for the World Cup, which is expected to generate some of the highest inbound travel volumes in years.<\/b><\/p>\n

Which is why Mullins is making this proposal. Now if I were Secretary Mullins, I would also look at the potential of moving the Customs agents to Airports in Cities and States that aren\u2019t aiding and abetting in protecting illegal aliens. For me, that would be the airport in Manchester NH. It\u2019s about 50 miles from Boston, It\u2019s far easier to get in and out of and New Hampshire is a much nicer state then the People\u2019s Democratic Republic of Taxachusetts.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Granted, Manchester is a regional airport<\/a>, but they have been expanding and improving for a good 30 years. The improvements came about after a snowstorm shut down Logan, but Manchester remained open. Planes were diverted and buses sent to bring people down to Logan. A large number of people looked out the window and basically said, \u201cHey! That\u2019s my house over there! Why the Hell are we going back to Boston?\u201d Obviously, I’m all in favor of punishing Boston and Massachusetts for their Sanctuary policies, especially if it will benefit New Hampshire.<\/p>\n
