Obama basically nationalized General Motors and now he is trying to force people to by the Chevy Volt. (Also known as the Chevy bonfire) ((Chevy Volt fires<\/a>)) The car is heavily subsidized and they still can\u2019t sell them. The probable reasons are that the car is junk and people don\u2019t really want to be turned into crispy critters ((Definition of Crispy Critter<\/a>)).<\/p>\n Recently, Obama stopped the Keystone pipeline that would have created thousands of construction jobs, hundreds of permanent jobs and allowed Canada to send oil to our refineries. Now the Canadians are going to sell that oil to China.<\/p>\n What\u2019s Obama\u2019s answer to all this?<\/p>\n First he blames the Republicans for stopping the pipeline. This, of course, is a flat out lie. The Republicans in congress tried to get it going as fast as possible. Now Obama has another bright idea.<\/p>\n From the Washington Examiner:<\/p>\n Obama: Use ‘algae’ as substitute for oil<\/p>\n President Obama admitted today that he does not have a “silver bullet” solution for skyrocketing gas prices, but he proposed alternative energy sources such as “a plant-like substance, algae” as a way of cutting dependence on oil by 17 percent.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Now I\u2019ve looked at this algae thing and it is an interesting idea. It could do a lot to help us become energy independent. However, the technology is still in the laboratory and isn\u2019t ready for scaling up to industrial levels yet.<\/p>\n “We\u2019re making new investments in the development of gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel that\u2019s actually made from a plant-like substance, algae — you’ve got a bunch of algae out here,” Obama said at the University of Miami today. “If we can figure out how to make energy out of that, we’ll be doing alright. Believe it or not, we could replace up to 17 percent of the oil we import for transportation with this fuel that we can grow right here in America.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n And there\u2019s the problem. We haven\u2019t figured out how to do this on the scale we need to cut our imports. As I said, this is still in the labs and it will be years, possibly decades before this is ready….if it ever is.<\/p>\n “We’re not going to transition out of oil anytime soon,” Obama added, before touting the record high domestic gas production right now and the agreement with Mexico to drill in the Gulf of Mexico, while still calling for expanded investment in alternative energy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n And here we have another Obama lie.<\/p>\n Oil industry leaders reject Obama’s claim to have given significant support to oil production. “These have been the most difficult three years from a policy standpoint that I’ve ever seen in my career,” Bruce Vincent, president of Swift Energy, an oil and gas company in Houston, said yesterday<\/a>. “They’ve done nothing but restrict access and delay permitting.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Obama and his thugs have set energy production in the United States back decade. This wasn\u2019t done through incompetence, they want to force the reduction of energy usage in this country. Why? The basic answer is they want to punish Americans for being successful. The people in the Obama administration hate everything this country stands for with every fiber of their being.<\/p>\n They want to force people out of their cars and into public transportation. They want to limit people\u2019s ability to travel.<\/p>\n Why do they want to do this? Simple really. It\u2019s all about control. They know that a population that isn\u2019t mobile won\u2019t be able to leave areas that are bad and go to areas that are good. If people can leave when things get to bad, they will. This is why so many people from around the world came to America in the first place.<\/p>\n Obama and the Democrats like telling people how to do things. They don\u2019t believe in free choice. In their minds, people can\u2019t be trusted to make the \u201cCorrect\u201d decision and therefore must be prevented from even having the option. Forcing people to live in cold dark government run housing is just what the elites want and the best way to do that is to limit energy usage.<\/p>\n Now, there are predictions that gas could hit $5-$10 dollars a gallon this year. For many people, that will mean they won\u2019t be able to afford the costs just to go to work. Food prices will go up, both because of the increase in production costs, (Tractors don\u2019t run on hay), and transportation costs to get the food to the markets.<\/p>\n People won\u2019t be able to pay for the gas to get to work. I know I won\u2019t be able to. I have the ability to work at home, and have already started to do so a few days a week. (At least until I lose my job) Of course, since people won\u2019t be able to get to their jobs, they will lose their jobs. Businesses won\u2019t be able to afford to stay in business, so those people who can actually get to work…well, they won\u2019t have to worry about that either.<\/p>\n Obama and his delusional minions think they can blame the oil companies, energy companies and of course, George W. Bush for all the problems. Sorry Barry, you own this. it\u2019s all yours. We should have been drilling for oil anyplace we could find it. We also need to build new refineries.<\/p>\n There is also the nuclear option. No I don\u2019t mean nuking Washington, (No matter how inviting that is), I mean building new nuclear power plants. We could have built dozens, perhaps hundreds of new power plants if the morons hadn\u2019t blocked them. We have finally approved of severla new plants, and they should be going online in a few years provided they don\u2019t run into the usual roadblocks from the anti-nuke luddites.<\/p>\n Nuclear power technology has advanced drastically since Three Mile Island and Chernobyl. If it hadn\u2019t been for Harry Reid and Obama, we would be putting nuclear waste in the special repository in Nevada years ago. Insteas, we are now seeing the start fo rolling blackouts.<\/p>\n The Anti-Nuclear power twits are now pointing at the Fukushima accident in Japan to say that nuclear power is to dangerous. Lets review this disaster. First, the plant was hit with a magnitude 9 earthquake. It hadn\u2019t been designed to handle one that big. It still managed to do so and the plant began it\u2019s automatic shut down sequence. Then plant was hit with a 30 foot tsunami which overtopped the seawall and flooded out the emergency power generators.<\/p>\n In other words, the plant was hit with two things it wasn\u2019t designed to handle. To top it off, the reactors were designed almost 50 years ago and were scheduled for shutdown and retirement in the next 2-5 years. They were going to be replaced with new reactors using the latest designs. It was just bad timing and bad luck that caused this disaster.<\/p>\n Now, in my \u201cReal World Job\u201d I work in the energy sector. I know about what I\u2019m talking about. One of the things that has prevented rolling blackouts is a thing called \u201cDemand\/Response. What this is, is a system where the power grid puts out a call for more electricity. Small Demand\/Response companies have goine into companies that use a lot of electricity and worked out a system where they will curtail their power usage if called upon.<\/p>\n It\u2019s a lot more complicated than that, but you get the basic idea. However, there is only so much that can be curtailed. You will need to build more power plants.<\/p>\n We should have been all but energy independent years ago, but people like Barack Obama have fought tooth and nail to make sure the Untied States is dependent on others for our energy needs. Now, Iran is threatening everyone. They have said they will close the straits of Hormuz, which carries a large segement of the worlds oil.<\/p>\n Obama will just sit their and whine that it\u2019s all Bush\u2019s and the Republican\u2019s fault. Meanwhile, the price of gas goes through the roof, the economy collapses and people will literally die. Of course, in the Progressive mindeset, as long as the \u201cright\u201d people die, so much the better. Progressive, Liberal Democrats will always make sure THEY are taken care of.<\/p>\n Remember in November.
