It seems that well known establishment RINO, Senator Richard Lugar is not eligible to vote in Indiana, the state he supposedly represents.

So what’s this all about? Well it seems that the local Democrats on the Marion County Election Board decided that since Lugar didn’t live there, he wasn’t entitled to vote in the state. Here are some of the details from Indystar.com:

The Election Board has voted 2-1 along party lines to find Sen. Richard Lugar, a Republican, and his wife ineligible to vote in their former home precinct. The two Democrats found that the Lugars abandoned that residence, according to Indiana law, and no longer reside there.

Lugar’s camp says it will appeal the decision because it disagrees with the board’s “political” action based on what it contends was a faulty analysis of the law.

According to Election Board attorneys, there would be an easy fix — the Lugars could submit new voter registration forms that list a physical address in any Indiana county with which they currently have a connection. That could be a family member’s home or, possibly, the Lugar family farm. There is no house on that farm, but it may satisfy the requirement.

According to AllahPundit from Hot Air,

Lugar and his wife have lived in Virginia for decades, ever since Indiana first sent him to Congress, but this question was resolved in his favor by the state AG long ago. No matter. Looks like the two Democrats on the county election board saw a chance to toss a stinkbomb of bad PR at a moment when there’s a real chance he might be bumped off in a Republican primary.

Lugar is a well known RINO and a big government statist. The constitution, much like the state of Indiana, is something he abandoned a long time ago. The Tea Party painted a large bullseye on him and has been ramping up to defeat him in the primary. Thanks to the Democrats, they might just have succeeded. Now why would the Democrats do something like this? Again, from Allahpundit:

The Democrats probably calculated that they’ve got a better shot at the seat against Richard Mourdock than the eternal incumbent with 100 percent name recognition.

Considering how popular the Democrats are of late, that might not be something they should count on. Frankly, I hope this stands up and Lugar is sent into retirement. I’ve been reading a few of the details and it does seem that Lugar is treating Indiana as a sort of “Rotten Borough ((Rotten and pocket boroughs))” rather than one of the 50 states. He is one of the “Elites” that think the only duty a citizen of Indiana has is to keep his wrinkly butt in the that senate seat.

The Daily Caller seems to have a few interesting details on the story.

Lugar sold his home at 3200 Highwoods Court in Indianapolis shortly after first assuming office in 1977. But due to a loophole in Indiana law, both he and his wife Charlene Lugar are still registered to vote at that address.

Gee, I understand that Ed Markey ((Representative Ed Markey Massachusetts 7th District)) at least claims that he still lives in his mothers home, even though he hasn’t been back to the district he allegedly represents in years. So how did this investigation get started?

Greg Wright, an Indiana tea party member and certified fraud examiner, told The Daily Caller that he has been investigating Lugar’s residency situation “for a few weeks” and has not been paid for his efforts. He just heard one day from some tea party friends that Lugar didn’t actually live in the state, and took it upon himself to find out if it was true.

So basically, this guy is a pro at finding frauds and someone pointed him in Lugars direction. From what I’ve heard, most fraud investigations start with a tip to an investigator.

Since then Wright has filed a series of inquiries with Indiana officials and dug up more than a dozen documents pertaining to Lugar’s residency, such as voting records and property tax information. But, despite filling out all the necessary paperwork, most of his questions went unanswered, and local papers appeared unwilling to look into the matter.

Gee, I wonder why?

Richard and Charlene Lugar’s drivers’ licenses, Wright found, say they live at 3200 Highwoods Court even though they have lived in the affluent Washington, D.C. suburb of McLean, Va., for decades. And when Sen. Lugar registered to run for president in 1996, he listed Highwoods Court as his address.

So they do have property in the state?? Mope, apparently not.

Lugar’s spokesperson dismissed questions about the senator’s residency as old news that is well known to Indiana’s voters. But the news did come as surprise to Betsy Hughes, the current owner of 3200 Highwoods Court, who did not know Lugar was voting from her address until Wright told her.

“I knew [Lugar] built it,” Hughes told The Daily Caller. “Every now and then we get his mail, and we couldn’t figure out why after all these years we were still getting his mail every now and then. And now we know why.”

Yeah, he’s using YOUR property as a mail drop.

Now the AG back in 1982 said this was fine and dandy. I suspect he might have been a little worried about forcing a noted member of the US Senate to actually live in the state he represents. Personally I think this is a disgrace. If you look at most of the long term members of congress, house and senate, you’ll find a fair number no longer have any connection to the states they allegedly represent. In other words, they only represent the Incumbent Party and don’t give a flying fig about anything other than staying on the party circuit in Washington DC.

Lugar, Hatch, Markey, none of them know what it means to really be a representative of the people. It’s time for the to go, and getting rid of Lugar in the primary is a good start.

Take a look at this campaign ad my Lugars opponent and if you are a voter in Indiana, give him some consideration.

That is all.

~The Angry Webmaster~

(1 votes, average: 1.00 out of 5)
Loading...

Sen.
