Greetings all, It’s the Angry Systems Administrator again. Gee, this makes two days in a row for me. \ud83d\ude42 In any case, I just saw something that gave me a nerdgasm. Syfy Channel\u00a0announced\u00a0a while back that they were going to continue the Battlestar Galactica franchise even though Caprica was a bit of a disappointment.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

I liked the original Battlestar Galactica even though the effects are really cheesy by today’s standards. I also liked the reimaged version. Actually I liked it better than the first since it was a lot darker and more human then the original. (I really liked the Model 8’s and wondered where I could get a couple)<\/p>\n

After the first series completed, and unlike a lot of people, I liked the ending, Syfy came up with a precursor series called Caprica. It explained how the Cylons came into being. The problem was the series was so slow in progressing and was just all over the place with its plot lines that I knew it was doomed. However, the creators at least had a chance to give it an ending which made sense.<\/p>\n

After Caprica flopped I figured, “Well, that’s that.” I was wrong. Syfy announced that they were continuing the BSG universe, but this time they were going to concentrate on the first Cylon war and how it would revolve around William Adama. For those who don’t care, William Adama was the last commander of the Galactica who led the surviving humans and Cylons to Earth.<\/p>\n

The new series is called Blood and Chrome and is set in the tenth year of the First Cylon War, the story follows William Adama as a young man, with the call sign “Husker”. William, being a recent Academy graduate, is assigned to the newest battlestar in the Colonial fleet; the Galactica. He is ordered to escort a young woman, who eventually turns out to have vital information that carries significant importance to certain Cylon secrets. He is accompanied by Coker. The routine mission eventually turns dangerous and becomes a pivotal part in their story. ((Wikipedia entry<\/a>))<\/p>\n

All I can say is WOW! This is sort of the rough draft of course, they are still working on the CGI and editing. I hope that the new series lives up to the original or surpasses it. It hasn’t been scheduled yet. It’s only listed on the Internet Movie Database<\/a> as sometime in 2013. Needless to say, my patience is nonexistent. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

I just read this morning that SyFy is not going to make a series for this. They might broadcast the pilot. Instead they are looking at doing a webcast series,\u00a0probably\u00a0similar to the one they did for Battlestar Galactica during the off season. That footage eventually ended up in Battlestar Galactica – Razor.<\/a> To say I’m upset at this would be an understatement. Ever since the original SciFi channel “Reimaged” its self into the SyFy channel, their programming decisions have gone straight into the dumpster.<\/p>\n
