What’s happened this time? The EPA has once again exceeded it’s authority and is imposing Carbon caps on power plants.

The Obama administration, in it’s usual contempt for things like the rule of law, the congress, the constitution and of course, science, has proposed the first rules to cut carbon emissions. Here are the details from Reuters:

The Obama administration proposed on Tuesday the first rules to cut carbon dioxide emissions from new U.S. power plants, a move hotly contested by Republicans and industry in an election year.

And not just by the Republicans. This is nothing more than Obama trying to help his cronies in the so called “Green Energy” business. So what are the details?

The Environmental Protection Agency’s proposal would effectively stop the building of most new coal-fired plants in an industry that is moving rapidly to more natural gas. But the rules will not regulate existing power plants, the source of one third of U.S. emissions, and will not apply to any plants that start construction over the next 12 months.

First, coal plants are a lot cleaner than they were even 10 years ago. New plants can be designed and built with the latest technology to be even cleaner. Of course, this was all done to appease the militant envirowackos not doubt. Well guess what? Nothing makes those anti-human scum happy.

The watering down of the proposal led some ardent environmentalists to criticize its loopholes, but a power company that has taken steps to cut emissions praised the rules.

That power company is doing nothing more than sucking up to the EPA.

While the proposal does not dictate which fuels a plant can burn, it requires any new coal plants to use costly technology to capture and store the emissions underground. Any new coal-fired plants would have to halve carbon dioxide emissions to match those of gas plants.

In other words, the EPA is carrying out the instructions of that jug-eared tyrant Obama to destroy the coal industry at all costs.

“We’re putting in place a standard that relies on the use of clean, American made technology to tackle a challenge that we can’t leave to our kids and grandkids,” EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson told reporters in a teleconference.

The only problem with this statement is that the “Grandkids” will be living in a dark cave somewhere…provided they haven’t died from exposure, disease, or starvation due to lack of power. The EPA was, at one time, required to do a cost/benefit analysis of their rules. I guess that went out the window with so many other laws once King Obama and his court jesters arrived.

Now this is only the comment period. The new rules have NOT gone into effect and may not before the election. If they haven’t, and Obama is defeated, the rules either won’t go into effect or can be more easily repealed.

Republicans say a slew of EPA clean air measures will drive up power costs but have had little success in trying to stop them in Congress. Industries have turned to the courts to slow down the EPA’s program.

The reason Congress hasn’t been able to stop them is simple. In the senate Harry Reid and the Democrats want the complete collapse of the United States, and in the house, where all money bills originate, the Republican leadership is to cowardly to simply defund the EPA. If they have no money, they can’t formulate new regulations since no one will be getting paid.

Under the new standards, coal plants could add equipment to capture and bury underground for permanent storage their carbon emissions. The rules give utilities time to get those systems running, by requiring they average the emissions cuts over 30 years. Still, the coal-burning industry says that carbon capture and storage, known as CCS, is not yet commercially available.

Here we see the one major problem for both sides in Washington. None of them have a clue about science, engineering or reality outside of keeping their big fat asses in their padded governmental chairs.

Of course, the radical envirowackos, by and large are happy.

“The bottom line for our country is that cleaner power will cut harmful carbon dioxide pollution, protect our children and help secure a safe prosperous future,” said Vickie Patton, the general counsel for the Environmental Defense Fund.

No, it won’t but this is the Church of Global Warming Climate Change and we must all worship at the alter of Carbon reduction! We must put a stop to any production of Carbon Dioxide! Never mind that this is a gas that is REQUIRED for life to even exist! You know what loves CO2? Plants! Trees! Flowers!
