One of the problems with MIB is the \u201cAvengers issue.\u201d Marvel\u2019s The Avengers has blown the summer box office to pieces and every movie now being released is being compared to the Avengers. This isn\u2019t fair of course. There\u2019s already been one fatality. GI Joe has been pulled from the schedule and won\u2019t be released until next year.<\/p>\n
Now, to the movie. As usual, expect spoilers so if you haven\u2019t seen it, and don\u2019t want to know what happens, go away. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n
The movie takes place 10 years after MIB II, which isn\u2019t surprising since that was when MIB II was released. And interstellar serial killers has escaped from the MIB Supermax on the moon and intends to go back in time to rewrite history. In the past, K blew the alien\u2019s arm off and arrested him in 1969 at Cape Canaveral the day of the launch. Meanwhile, Zed, the leader of MIB has died. J&K attend his memorial and and we are introduced to the new head of MIB, an older but very attractive woman named O. It\u2019s obvious that O and K had something once, but are now friends.<\/p>\n J and K raid a not so Chinese restaurant. K talks to the alien owner and figures out that the killer has escaped and is planning to come after him. J&K have a wild shootout and win. They return to MIB and and J starts digging into the alien and how K captured him. He finds his access blocked. He goes home and is playing a video game when K calls him. J&K are having some \u201cissues\u201d in their working relationship and J hangs up. K, meanwhile, prepares to face the Alien known as Boris the Animal. He is sitting in his chair with a big gun when he suddenly disappears. J has a reaction but doesn\u2019t know what has happened. The next morning he goes to MIB and things are different. No one knows who K is other than O. J thinks people are playing a joke on him. (This is a weak plot point, but eehh)<\/p>\n He finally convinces O that something has happened and O figures out that time has changed. She send J to someone who has a time travel device and J uses it to return to 1969.<\/p>\n J starts tracking down Boris and finds him at a fair. Just as he\u2019s about to blast him K, a much younger K, puts a gun to his head. Because of this, Boris gets away. J realizes that this is K and tries to hug him. K tasers him. J wakes up in MIB, and tries to convince K that he is from the future and has come back to stop future Boris and save the world.<\/p>\n There\u2019s the usual back and forth and eventually J&K end up at Andy Warhol\u2019s place. It turns out that Warhol is actually an MIB agent named \u201cW.\u201d While there, J&K find an alien, Griffin, who is able to see all possible futures. He has a device called the Arcnet that J knows K somehow gets into orbit. This will save the Earth in the future.<\/p>\n More running around and eventually, J&K end up at Cape Canaveral on the day of the moon launch. They head to one of the gates to the Cape so they can get on the Apollo 11 rocket and mount the Arcnet device on it. Of course they run right into the guards. K is about to neuralize the guards when Griffin says that they need to tell the truth. J does this and of course they get arrested. An army colonel arrives and starts questioning them. This time K tells him the truth. Of course, the Colonel orders J&K and Griffin to the stockade.<\/p>\n At this point, Griffin touches the Colonel and shows him a potential future. The Colonel orders the guards back to their posts and escorts the trio to the tunnel leading to the launch pad. Griffin says this is as far as he goes. J&K proceed to the rocket and encounter both 1969 Boris and future Boris. J&K each fight the Boris from their time lines. J throws his Boris off the tower. K blows the arm off his Boris and knocks him off the tower as well. K manages to attach the Arcnet to the Apollo escape tower ((Launch Escape System<\/a>)) and then runs to the zip line the Astronauts would use in an emergency. He slides down and meets the Colonel. J, who paused for a few moments to let K think he has gone back to his own time, then slides down. Just as he lands, Future Boris emerges from the launch site. At that moment the rockets ignite and Future Boris is incinerated.<\/p>\n J watches the Colonel and K talking when 1969 Boris emerges from the tunnel. The Colonel spots him and pushes K aside while trying to draw his sidearm. Unfortunately, Boris kills him. K Draws his weapon and rather than arrest him, K kills Boris.<\/p>\n At this point a small boy comes out of a car parked nearby looking for his father. This was the Colonel. K spots him and quickly moves to block the boy, named James, from seeing his father. James pulls out a watch to show K and J, who has been watching all this realizes he is looking at himself as a child and that the Colonel was his father. K, in order to prevent trauma to James, neuralyzes him and tells him that his father was a great hero.<\/p>\n J leaves at that point and returns to the future. He meets up with K at a diner and as they are talking, pulls his fathers watch from his pocket. K realizes that J now knows the truth. As they leave the diner, Griffin is shown saying that this is now his favorite point in Human history, unless K forgot to leave a tip, in which case the Earth is doomed. An asteroid is shown heading for Earth when K comes back into the diner and leaves the tip saying he had almost forgot. The asteroid hits a satellite and explodes, and the Earth is saved. End credits.<\/p>\n Now, as I said, I liked this movie, It was a lot better then Battleship and to be honest I would rank it close to The Avengers. I recommend seeing it if you can. A lot of people who have been critical of the film said that if they make an MIB IV, they would like to see it done in the 60\u2019s and that Will Smith, (J), step aside. I could go for that, and I could also go for more J&K.<\/p>\n So, there you have it.
