As I expected, we started seeing double postings to the twitter feed. I haven’t deleted it although it has been deactivated for now. I need to do some more research on how it works.

I also have a plugin that tells me who is on line. Almost all the people listed are here under the guest account. The plugin doesn’t tell me exactly who you are, only who your ISP is. I’ve seen people stopping in from all over the world. I’ve also seen people coming in from various .gov sites.

It seems that whenever the Angry Webmaster posts something about Obama, we get a large number of hits from the Illinois government domains. We are all wondering when we can expect a visit from the “Official Obama Happy Thoughts Police” and a free trip to the ACORN run Happy Happy Joy Joy institute for political adjustments.

As you have no doubt noticed, we have a few trillion ads on this site. We use a company called Chitika based in Massachusetts to handle ads for us. We used to have Google Adsense, but their stupid algorithms decided that click fraud was occurring and the canceled our account. (And kept our money)

No click fraud was going on, but those evil slime wouldn’t bother to listen to us. (We figured out what happened and wanted to work with them to correct the problem) Frankly, Google getting slammed upside the head with an antitrust 2×4 wouldn’t bother us a bit her at Anger Central. Yes we don’t particularly like antitrust laws, but once in a while….

One of the things we like to do on the main site is protect our ranter’s identities. The whole site is set up to strip identifying data out. The blog is a different kettle of fish as you may have noticed. There really isn’t a lot we can do to protect your identity in here so consider that when posting to comments.

As an aside….

We have a GnuPG key on our add page for those who are really nervous about posting. It’s never been used. I suspect this is due to lack of knowledge, and also to the problem of actually getting GnuPG set up and working. This isn’t a problem for several reasons.

First, that key will work with PGP, the commercial version of GnuPG. The advantage of PGP over GnuPG is support. This is a commercial product, so they will assist you. The disadvantage is, it IS a commercial product and you have to pay for it.

Second, GnuPG has gotten better and there are utilities that make it a lot easier to use. We have some of them listed under our links page. (Or we will as soon as I kick that lazy good for nothing SOB in the arse!)

In any case, I’ll give you a few pointers on how to get GnuPG running and a few utilities to help you along. I’m primarily a Windows admin so the instructions will be for that O/S.

Download Gnupg for Windows. There are 2 variants. GnuPG 1.4.10 is the one I’m most familiar with so I will discus this one.

Run the installer.
I recommend not putting it in the default location. Put it in c:\\programs\\gnupg. The reason for this will become apparent later.

Now the fun begins. This version is primarily a command line tool. In other words a royal pain to use. YOu will need to add the directory to the system path. Now wipe that blank look off and follow these instructions carefully. They are primarily for Windows XP, but will work with any version from Windows 2000 on up.

Right click on My Computer and select Properties.

Click on the tab marked Advanced.

In the new window look for the button marked “Environmental Variables.” It should be at the bottom just over the OK button.

In the new window that opens, look at the bottom panel. You are looking for a line that says “Path.”

Select Path and click the Edit button.

This opens a new window with two lines. You want to go into the second line and move to the end. You want to add the following test:
;C:\\programs\\gnupg. The semi colon is used to create a space in this variable. See the following example of how the path should look:
C:\\WINDOWS\\system32;C:\\WINDOWS;C:\\WINDOWS\\System32\\Wbem;C:\\Programs\\GnuPG

Click OK all the way out. You now have set up an environmental variable for GnuPG.

Now you need to get a client to help you use this program. There are 2 I would recommend. One is a stand alone client and the other is a Firefox plugin. I’ll start with the stand alone program.

This one is called GPGshell. Download this and install it. If you have the path statement set up correctly, this should go in without any problems.

Now create a key pair. There are instruction on how to do this in the GPGshell help files.

Now this program is very rich and details, which make it a bit difficult to use. Still it’s easier then trying to use the command line.

The other application is the Firefox plugin called FireGPG. It’s far easier to use but doesn’t have all the features of the Shell. I recommend using both. Once you have it installed, just head off to our add page and download our key. Play around with the programs.

*Whew!*

I didn’t intend to play tech support here. In fact don’t write to me asking for help. I’ve got way to much going on cleaning up after that doofus Webmaster when he trashes his system, the servers or the web sites.

Anyway, one of the other things I’ve noticed is the lack of people signing up and commenting. Also people aren’t using the voting buttons. Come on people!! I’m feeling lonely here!

Well, I’ve got to go see what other disasters the Angry Webmaster has created.

Until next time!

~The Angry Systems Administrator~

Hi there nice people, it’s the Angry Systems Administrator with a little more back of the blog information.

As we mentioned last time, I was futzing around with a friendfeed plugin.
