<\/a><\/p>\nThe reality? This tax is already destroying the industry. A case in point. A company in Indiana, Cook Medical, has canceled plans to build 5 new manufacturing plant. Here are some of the details from the Indianapolis Business Journal<\/a>:<\/p>\n Cook Medical Inc. had been planning to open five new manufacturing plants over the next five years in small communities around the Midwest, including Indiana, but has shelved those plans because of the hit it will take from a new U.S. tax on medical devices.<\/p>\n The Bloomington-based medical device maker estimates it will pay between $20 million and $30 million once the tax takes effect in January, Pete Yonkman, executive vice president of strategic business units at Cook Medical, said this week.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Gee, I thought that Obamacare was going to be wonderful? We would all get new jobs, we would save money, and everything would be perfect. Yeah and I have a bridge I want to sell you too.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is a challenge for us, no doubt,\u201d Yonkman said in an interview after the IBJ<\/em> Life Sciences Power Breakfast on Wednesday. \u201cWe have fewer resources to be able to spend on those kinds of projects.\u201d<\/p>\n He referred to a new plant Cook opened recently in Canton, Ill., renovating a plant abandoned by the International Harvester Corp. Cook has invested $30 million in the plant, which will eventually employ 300 or more people, Yonkman said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n 300 people. Now multiply that by the five plants that WON\u2019T be opening now. That\u2019s 1500 new jobs that will not be created. Oh, those 1500 people? They won\u2019t be buying things like new clothes, cars, TV, etc. My guess is that easily another 10,000 indirect jobs now won\u2019t be created or will be lost because Cook Medical has canceled it\u2019s plans.<\/p>\n \u201cWe had hoped, as we get bigger, that that would be our model for expansion,\u201d Yonkman said. \u201cTo take these small manufacturing facilities and bring them to these communities, that had been hard hit by jobs leaving, because the work ethic is amazing and the people are really supportive and excited.\u201d<\/p>\n Yonkman said Cook had planned to open a similar facility each year for the next five years.\u201cSo, for us,\u201d he added, \u201cthat\u2019s one less facility per year that we\u2019re going to be able to use because of the tax.\u201d Cook officials have long been critical of the medical device tax. Even before it became law, Bill Cook said it could cost the company as many as 1,000 jobs<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n I can\u2019t blame them for this decision. Obama, Pelosi, Reid, none of them have ever done an honest days work in their lives. All they see, when it comes to private enterprise, is sheep to be shorn so they can pay off their cronies. Now, these jobs, which would have helped the economy are going overseas.<\/p>\n Since then, Cook officials have said their future growth will be focused overseas. Cook already has production facilities in Ireland, Denmark and Australia.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Of course, the \u201cUsual Suspects\u201d on the left are poo pooing this story.<\/p>\n The Center for Budget Policies and Priorities, a liberal think tank in Washington, D.C., said in a March report<\/a> that medical device makers are blowing the tax\u2019s impact out of proportion. It noted that the new tax does not apply to medical devices made in the United States but then exported for sale overseas.<\/p>\n \u201cIn fact, health reform may, on balance, benefit the medical device industry and boost its sales,\u201d the Center stated in its report. \u201cBy extending health coverage to 33 million more Americans, or by more than 10 percent, the Affordable Care Act will increase the demand for medical devices and the revenue of device manufacturers.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Not in the United States it won\u2019t. Thanks to Obamacare, some bureaucrat will decide if some new medical device is worth the cost. Since costs of Obamacare are going to blast right past the planet Neptune, those devices won\u2019t be available in the United States.<\/p>\n Obamacare, if allowed to go into effect, is going to kill tens of thousands a year. If you think you\u2019re going to get free healthcare, think again. Since you will be REQUIRED to buy insurance, and it has to be a government approved plan, your costs will probably go up. For younger people, say 18-30, they generally don\u2019t need much in the way of medical care. What they need is insurance to cover major medical such as accidents. You know, like getting drunk and trying to jump into a pool at a hotel…from the 8th<\/sup> floor. All they need is a high deductible plan that cover major medical bills. Those are very cheap plans, but they aren\u2019t the plan that will be approved by Obamacare bureaucrats. No, you will have to buy the $3000 a year plan.<\/p>\n What? You can\u2019t afford that plan? Tough. If you don\u2019t buy it, the government will fine<\/em><\/span> tax you the amount you should have paid. Oh, so then you get your free healthcare? Nope, You STILL have to buy the government mandated plan, but now that they have fined<\/em><\/span> taxed you several thousand dollars, you will be even worse off. Oh, if you still don\u2019t do it, they hit you again and eventually it\u2019s off to jail for tax evasion.<\/p>\n Obamacare was never about helping the few that couldn\u2019t get insurance. It was all about controlling the peons and serfs. The whole mess is nothing more than a totalitarian power grab. It even comes with it\u2019s own secret police force. It\u2019s called the Internal Revenue Service. You know the IRS. That\u2019s where you are guilty until proven innocent, and you will NEVER be proven innocent.<\/p>\n Obamacare MUST be repealed. Not \u201cfixed,\u201d not \u201coverhauled,\u201d repealed. Junked. Tossed on the ash heap of history. Elections have meaning and the next election is critical. If Obama wins, Obamacare will go into effect and the final collapse of the United States will begin.
