Oh PLEASE, Please make it true! The Kansas Democrat party is asking soon to be former Health and Human Services secretary Kathleen Sebelius to run against the current senator, Pat Roberts.
Sebelius, who is in the process of “Resigning to spend more time with her family” after the disastrous roll out of Obamacare is being courted by the Kansas Democrat party to run in November. Here are some of the laughable details from the New York Slimes Times:
In her darkest hour last fall, Kathleen Sebelius suffered one of the deepest cuts from an old family friend who accused her of “gross incompetence” over the rollout of the Affordable Care Act and demanded that she resign as secretary of health and human services. Now she is weighing revenge. Ms. Sebelius is considering entreaties from Democrats who want her to run against that old friend, Senator Pat Roberts, Republican of Kansas.
Kathleen Sebelius is a corrupt, incompetent shrew in the mode of Hillary Clinton. Vicious, conniving and not one to let the law or the constitution stand in her way. In other words, the perfect candidate for the Progressive Liberal Democrats.
Several Democrats said this week that Ms. Sebelius had been mentioned with growing frequency as someone who could wage a serious challenge to Mr. Roberts, 77, who is running for a fourth term and is considered vulnerable. One person who spoke directly to Ms. Sebelius said that she was thinking about it, but added that it was too soon to say how seriously she was taking the idea.
Roberts is vulnerable, due to his age, and the fact he is a long time office holder, both in the Senate and House of Representatives. Other then that? I can’t say since I don’t live in Kansas and don’t know that much about him. However, if he’s facing Sebelius, he can pretty much phone in his campaign.
Even if Ms. Sebelius had not presided over the Department of Health and Human Services at a time of turmoil and self-inflicted distress — and while carrying out a law that inspires such anger on the right — her candidacy would be a tough sell in Kansas. Democrats have not held a Senate seat in the state since 1939. And even before the president’s popularity started to take a steep slide last year, he fared especially poorly in Kansas, winning only 38 percent of the vote there in 2012.
Not surprising really. Most people out there have their heads screwed in right. There is an exception to this, and that would be the Democrat Party of Unicorn Farts and windmills Kansas
Democrats say that Ms. Sebelius would be their best hope at winning in a tough state, especially if Mr. Roberts loses his primary to Milton Wolf, a Tea Party-backed radiologist who has alarmed mainstream Republicans with some of his actions, such as when he posted gruesome pictures of gunshot victims on Facebook.
I don’t know Milton Wolf and don’t know about the pictures. Were they posted prior to his announcement or after? That does make a bit of a difference. Also, how is he handling the backlash? Is there any backlash at all or is this something the New York Slimes is trying to gin up? I’ll let people from Kansas provide those answers. And speaking of Progressive Liberal Democrat analysts and delusions:
Perhaps more significant, Ms. Sebelius would force Republicans to spend money in Kansas as they tried to fight off her challenge. Her family has a long history in the state, and she was a popular, twice-elected governor. In 2006, she was re-elected with 58 percent of the vote.
I can’t document this, but I recall reading that she had some serious ethics issues that came to light after she left office. Hopefully, someone can come up with the details or correct my impressions about her actions in the Kansas State government. As HHS secretary, she has not covered herself with glory and there have been any number of charges made regarding her actions. Thanks to the Obama Stonewall, she has been fairly well protected. That protection will come to an end of she decides to run for the senate. However, Sebelious probably won’t run.
Friends and Democrats who know her said that they seriously doubted she would follow through and mount a campaign, considering how personally difficult the past six or seven months had been. She has been mocked and excoriated by Republicans on Capitol Hill, who made her the face of the Affordable Care Act’s problems. And she has told people that she anticipated staying on in her job as secretary for a while longer.
Yes, she’s going to be spending the next few months digging the knife out of her back bringing her replacement up to speed. If she were to run, every single aspect of Obamacare would be brought up, it’s complete failure, it’s unpopularity, her attacks on religious organizations, groups and individuals, everything. Running for the senate? More likely running for the border and away from a lynch mob.
I would like to thank the New York Times for this humorous demonstration of wishful thinking. So, when will the unicorns be migrating back into Central Park?
