Teamsters show their usual lack of class in Boston

Greetings all. I saw this story the other day. The Teamsters Union, showing their usual lack of class, decided it would be a really good idea to threaten and terrify Top Chef hostess Padme Lakshmi when she recently visited the Boston area.

Now I will state, for the record, that I have no interest in either the show Top Chef or Ms. Laksmi. While I am a fair cook, spending time watching people in the kitchen holds no interest to me. However, I do have an interest when a pack of Union thugs threatens someone because they don’t hire union members. Here are the details from Deadline Hollywood:

The Teamsters picketers were already mad. By the time Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi’s car pulled up to the Steel & Rye restaurant in the picturesque New England town of Milton just outside Boston, one of them ran up to her car and screamed, “We’re gonna bash that pretty face in, you fucking whore!”

How typical of the Teamsters. Of course this happened in Massachusetts, so that thug felt fairly safe in charging at Ms. Lakshmi and threatening her. The odds were no one around her was armed.

“She was scared,” said a Top Chef crewmember who witnessed the incident, which occurred in June while filming an episode for the upcoming 12th season of Bravo’s popular skein, which premieres October 15. “He was screaming at her aggressively and violently.”

She should be. The Teamsters have a long history of violence, corruption and murder. Of course, this being the People’s Democratic Republic of Massachusetts, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Governor Urkel arranged to have them bussed in. So, what ticked of this bunch of murderous thugs?

Angry that the show had not signed a Teamsters contract and that the production hired local PA’s to drive cast and crew vehicles, the dozen or so picketers from Boston’s Teamsters Local 25 kept at it for hours, raining down racist, sexist and homophobic threats and slurs as staffers came to and left the set that summer day. Jenn Levy, Bravo’s SVP Production, wasn’t spared. Arriving at the restaurant in her black SUV, she soon found herself running a gauntlet of vitriol. “She got out of her car in front of the location and quickly ran through the picket line,” a source said. “They were yelling, ‘You bitch! You slut! We’re gonna get you!’ It went on like that all day.”

There are certain areas of the country that the Teamsters and their pals the SEIU won’t pull stunts like this. The last time they did, they nearly got their heads blown off. As you might have expected, the police showed up to keep the peace. The Teamsters response? About what you might have expected of course.

John King, Milton’s Deputy Police Chief, said the Teamsters were “threatening, heckling and harassing.” The first officer on the scene, he said, had to call for back-up after the Teamsters “gave the officer trouble.” Reading from the police report, he said the Teamsters were “hostile, swearing, and refusing to let people come in and out. Officers repeatedly tried to de-escalate the situation.” When more police arrived, the Teamsters went to the show’s hospitality tent and “harassed the crew there.” When the officers went there, King said, “A group of them slashed the tires on 14 different cars owned by the crew.”

Perhaps they should have called in the St. Louis County Police and asked them to bring their MRAP’s? I will salute the Milton Police for trying to keep things under control, but with Union Thugs, well, it might be time to look at resurrecting the Pinktertons.

The day of the Union is over and the Unions know it. However, being a pack of thugs, they aren’t going to go into the night quietly. They are actively working with their pals in the Democrat Party to force people into unions whether they want to be in one or not. Recent court cases have started to end that practice, and as more and more states move to a “Right to Work” system, union members are leaving in droves. Unions can’t even get into a company that actually supports their organizing activities. The reasons that no one wants to be in a union any more are rather simple. Unions no longer provide any sort of benefit and actually hurt the workers they purport to be helping. I suspect that in the next ten to twenty years, unions will generally cease to exist in the United States. It can’t happen soon enough for me.
