Lois Lerner Doubles Down

Good day all. It seems that Lois Lerner decided to give an interview to Politico regarding the IRS scandal and as you might expect, she’s both unapologetic for abusing the constitutional rights of conservative groups, and complaining ab out how she’s being treated.

Lerner, who was “Retired” from the IRS is complaining that no one will hire her, (Gee, I wonder why?) and that she’s being treated like dirt.

Employers won’t hire her. She’s been berated with epithets like “dirty Jew.” Federal agents have guarded her house because of death threats. And she’s spent hundreds of thousands of dollars defending herself against accusations she orchestrated a coverup in a scandal that has come to represent everything Americans hate about the IRS.

Right off the bat, anyone who is threatening this alleged criminal needs to be prosecuted themselves. Lois Lerner is presumed innocent, (HAH!) until proven guilty in a court of law. When that finally happens, (Probably after Obama leaves office unless Cankles sleazes her way in), she’s get to spend her golden years in Club Fed. Then there is the “Dirty Jew” crap. Until I read that someone had used that insult against her, I hadn’t known she was Jewish. Guess what? I don’t care, other then to remark she is a disgrace to members of that faith. Anyway, she is absolutely unrepentant regarding her actions against anyone who was a conservative.

Lois Lerner is toxic — and she knows it. But she refuses to recede into anonymity or beg for forgiveness for her role in the IRS tea party-targeting scandal.

“I didn’t do anything wrong,” Lerner said in her first press interview since the scandal broke 16 months ago. “I’m proud of my career and the job I did for this country.”

What she did for this country? She demonstrated that she was nothing more then a tyrannical bitch who would use the Government to suppress any dissent. Frankly, there isn’t a dimes worth of difference between her, and any other authoritarian/totalitarian out there. The Politico article comes across as nothing more than a puff piece with the interviewer throwing out one softball after another. It was used simply to provide Lerner with a way to justify her actions without incriminating herself. Pity that a number of people aren’t buying it. According to Fox News:

House oversight committee Chairman Darrell Issa is renewing his call for embattled ex-IRS official Lois Lerner to testify before Congress, after she used a media interview to assert her innocence and say she’s “not sorry for anything.”

Issa, R-Calif., cast doubt on Lerner’s claims.

“The American people deserve the opportunity to hear Lois Lerner’s testimony under oath,” Issa said in a statement. “If Lerner had nothing to hide and did nothing wrong in the IRS targeting scandal, she would have chosen to answer basic questions about her conduct instead of obstructing Congress’ investigation. Her decision to make unsubstantiated claims to a media outlet while claiming Fifth Amendment protections from answering Congress’ questions is telling.”

Most of America that has paid any attention to this scandal think Lerner is covering for someone higher up the food chain. While I doubt President Golf Pro told her to screw over conservative groups prior to the 2012 election, a lot of people think that someone quite close to him was fully aware of, and perhaps directing Lerner’s actions. Since she already had a proclivity to abuse her powers, it wouldn’t take much to get her to outright break the law.

Issa claimed Lerner “appears to have great confidence that her allies in the Obama administration will not consider legal action.”

Considering the utter corruption of the Justice Department, along with the Obama administration in general, Lerner is right to feel that she will be protected. However, Obama and Holder aren’t going to be there forever and the next Attorney General, (If the GOP wins in 2016), isn’t going to cover up the crimes of this administration.

If the Senate flips to the Republicans next year, it’s possible that both the house and senate will put forward a bill for a special prosecutor with instructions to find out what happened. Now I am no fan of special prosecutors. They have a history of going completely off the rails and in to many cases going on fishing expeditions far beyond their mandates. However, if careful oversight is used, they can do good service. However, if the Democrats maintain control of the Senate, And Cankles Clinton runs and win in 2016, Lerner is free and clear.
