Sir Nicholas Winton dies at 106

Good day all. Back in 2009 I wrote a post about a man named Nicholas Winton and how he used his position just prior to World War Two to save the lives of hundreds of Jewish children. Sir Nicolas didn’t talk about what he had done and the story of his great work was almost lost to history.

In September, 2009, in celebration of a great man, the train journey from what was then Czechoslovakia, (Now the Czech Republic), pulled out of the train station in Prague carrying 22 of people that Sir Nicholas’s actions saved from the Nazis. Sir Nicholas met the train when it pulled into Liverpool Street station.

It is with deep sadness that after a long and fruitful life, I must report that Sir Nicolas passed away July 1st, 2015. The world has lost a great and noble man.
