Greetings one and all, this is the Angry Systems Administrator. Today I am going to review the latest addition to the Anger Central Entertainment Center, the Amazon Fire Stick.
We decided to upgrade from the internet enabled Blu-Ray player we’ve been using for a few years now and try one of the dedicated streaming systems. The choices were the Amazon Fire Stick, the Roku Streaming Stick and Google Chromecast. We had a credit with Amazon, and after seeing the unit in operation elsewhere, decided to buy the Fire Stick.
It arrived last week, and it took a bit of time to get it working correctly through our audio/visual system. However, it’s up and running and we’re all playing around with it. Right off the bat, I will say that Netflix is far better on the Fire Stick than it was on the blu-ray player. It loads faster and it seems to actually be coming into the systems in full HD. It’s also far more responsive and the interface is much closer to the web site.
All in all, we’re quite happy with it. We’ve signed up for the free Hulu trial period and we’re looking at how much we can save if we decide to cut back on the premium channels on DirecTV. (Thanks to the lack of employment opportunities, the Webmaster may have to cancel the service all together)
One of the services I found was the ability to stream our rather vast music collection. Normally, the office will stream the music through their computers or phones. Frankly, nothing beats a full blow stereo system. Also, with an Amazon Prime membership, you get lots of free music, TV shows and movies. We’re each going through that to see what we’ll want to watch.
Please feel free to click on the Fire Stick links and order one. It’s very inexpensive and well worth the price.
Thank you
~The Angry Systems Administrator~
