Good day all. I was rather busy yesterday so I wasn’t able to post anything good. This morning, I have some time. Apparently, Attorney General Sessions has been listening to the Democrats with regards to a Special Prosecutor. He isn’t utterly opposed to the idea it seems.
However, if Sessions did appoint a special prosecutor, it wouldn’t be for what the Democrats want. The special prosecutor would be tasked to investigate the actions of the previous administration. Here are the details from Associated (With Fake News and Terrorists), Press:
Attorney General Jeff Sessions suggested Thursday that he would be open to the appointment of an outside counsel to review actions taken by the Justice Department during the Obama administration.
I can hear the Democrats now. “Screech! Rant! Rave! Demand! Umm, what? Wait a minute! That’s not what we wanted!”
Conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt asked Sessions in an interview if the new attorney general would consider designating an outside counsel “not connected to politics” to take a second look at Justice Department actions that provoked Republican ire in the last eight years. Those include the Fast and Furious gun scandal and the decisions against bringing criminal charges over Hillary Clinton’s email practices or the Internal Revenue Service’s treatment of conservative groups.
Sessions was noncommittal but left the door open, saying he would do everything he could to “restore the independence and professionalism of the Department of Justice.”
“So we would have to consider whether or not some outside special counsel is needed,” Sessions said. “Generally, a good review of that internally is the first step before any such decision is made.”
I don’t think this is what the Progressive Liberal Lunatic Democrats had in mind when they were demanding the appointment of a special prosecutor to look into rumors, fake news and the paranoid delusions of the Progressive Liberal Democrats.
Democrats have called for an outside counsel to probe possible contacts between Russian officials and the Trump campaign. Sessions recused himself last week from any investigation that touches the campaign, and Rod Rosenstein, the prosecutor nominated as his deputy, would not commit at his confirmation hearing this week to step aside from any such investigation.
Sessions made a mistake recusing himself, however, the entire “The Russians rigged the election!!” accusations have fallen apart. Thanks to Wikileaks reporting that the CIA had lost all their hacking tools, including ones that make it look like the Russians did it, well, let’s just say that an investigation might not go the way the Progressive Liberal Moonbats want it to.
It’s not clear how serious Sessions was about the idea of a special counsel to investigate past Justice Department decisions, or how such an undertaking might work.
From other articles and blogs I’ve read this morning, Attorney general Sessions was served up this softball by Hugh Hewitt on purpose, and Sessions decided to bunt instead of going for the line drive. This is understandable. Sessions has just indicated to the Progressive Liberal Nutjobs that he’s quite willing to go after them. However, first he has to clean out the mess in the DoJ. That’s going to take a significant amount of time unfortunately.
