The Earth is greener today

Good day all. To listen to the Moonbat class, you would think that the world was denuded of trees and anything else that grows. Well, it appears that this belief may no longer be operative.

According to NASA, the Earth is greener now then it was 20 years ago. Here are the shocking details from Fox News:

A new findings from NASA revealed that the planet has seen an overall increase in greening over the last 20 years, due mainly in part to “ambitious tree planting programs.” The research published on Feb. 11 found that the greening of earth over the course of the last two decades has shown an overall increase by 5 percent, equal to more than two million square miles of extra green leaf area per year compared to the early 2000s.

There must be some mistake. People like Al Gore and Alexandria Occasional-Cortex are screaming that “We’re all going to DIE in 10 YEARS if we don’t all become communists!!!” or something. Are they wrong? Do we need to forgo the totalitarian form of government that Occasional-Cortex wants to implement? Not exactly it seems.

The data, which compared satellite images from the mid-1990s taken by Boston University and those collected from two NASA satellites orbiting the earth for 20 years, showed that both China and India are leading the way in the greening of the globe.

Now I am a bit surprised to see that it is China and India and not the United States and Europe leading the way. I would have expected the Progressive Liberal Elites in the West would be at the forefront of reforestation projects. Of course, those cheap bastards won’t spend one penny of their own money on things like this. No, they prefer to have the lower classes pay for it. Oh, they also will promptly wall off these areas and prevent any of the hoi polloi from enjoying the forests.

Initially, researchers attributed the change to warmer weather, wetter climate and the fertilization from added carbon dioxide, but Rama Nemani, a research scientist at NASA’s Ames Research Center, said that the new data showed that “humans are also contributing.”

So, a warmer climate with more CO2 in the air actually causes trees and bushes to grow? Will wonders never cease?

Nemani pointed to China’s programs to conserve and expand forests and India’s cultivation of food crops.

China is probably planting trees for a few reasons. One of them is for harvesting and commercial use down the road. India wanting to grow more food? Yeah, that makes sense, Starvation is so 19th Century.

Now that we know direct human influence is a key driver of the greening Earth, we need to factor this into our climate models,” she continued. “This will help scientists make better predictions about the behavior of different Earth systems, which will help countries make better decisions about how and when to take action.”

Excuse me while I snort derisively. The climate models that the Church of Global Warming put so much stock in basically don’t work. When real climate scientists use them and load historical data into them, the results are basically, garbage. Now that I have that out of the way, let’s consider the fact that we’re planting more and more trees and other forms of plant life.

Trees, flowers, bushes, all forms of plant life need carbon dioxide in order to live. More CO2 is better for them. It allows them to grow and prosper, eventually reaching the point when they become a house, or a chair, or even dinner. If we keep increasing the number of trees, we’re going to run out of CO2. Without CO2, the trees will die. If the trees die, then we will die because trees make oxygen which we use. So, basically, we need to burn more trees so we may live.

Enough with that silliness. Personally, I like trees. They are part of the ecosphere, just as much as humans are. Planting more trees is good, but, and this is something that drives the climate nuts even more insane, we also need carbon dioxide as well. The Earth is not going to turn into Venus, no matter what Alexandria Occasional-Cortex says, certainly not in 10 years. In point of fact, we may be entering a mini-ice age, and we will enter a major one in about 12-15 thousand years. Since I don’t want to freeze, I would like to have another order of Global Warming with a side of CO2 to go please.
