Good day all. There is a lot going on, and it’s going to be hard to comment on everything in a timely manner. However, as President Trump would say, This is “Yuuge!” Prime Minister Boris Johnson has won an absolute majority in the House of Commons, and Labour was crushed.
Now I am no expert on how the British system works, however from what I’ve been reading, and comments from someone I know in Ireland, Boris Johnson now has all he needs to finally pull Britain out of the European Union. Some of the news reports I’m seeing indicate that the Tories, (Their conservative party, similar to the Republicans here in the United States), have won seats in areas that have been Labour strongholds for over a century.
Speaking of the Labour Party, their leader, Jeremy Corbyn has announced he’s resigning as the leader of the party. Frankly, he was probably one of the reasons Labour was hammered so hard. He makes Comrade Bernie Sanders look like a Conservative Republican. He’s also anti-Semitic to a level not really seen since Germany in the 1930’s.
However, in typical Corbyn manner, he hasn’t said when he will be stepping down. I suspect that if he hasn’t “Cleaned out his office” by Monday, security will come along and escort him to the curb, as it were. He’s still in denial regarding the crushing defeat of Labour, blaming everyone else, especially the media. According to The Sun:
Corbyn has now said he will step down as Labour boss before the next election after failing to win a second poll in a row.
As I mentioned before, I think he’s going to be gone long before then. I don’t know exactly how things work across the pond, but I believe the next scheduled election is in 5 years, unless the Prime Minister calls for a new one sooner. Since Boris Johnson now has an absolute majority, unless he screws up by the numbers, he’s going to be in office for the full term. Somehow, I doubt the Labour party is going to let Corbyn remain as leader for that long.
But the sore loser refused to accept any blame for the disastrous results – and instead accused the media of “disgusting” attacks.
Defiant Corbyn also claimed his hard-left, Marxist manifesto was “extremely popular” – despite the Tories securing a thumping election win.

Corbyn, like Comrade Bernie, refuses to accept that Marxism, Socialism and Communism are utter and complete failures as an economic model. He, like Comrade Bernie, thinks that the reason it’s failed every time so far is that the “Right people” haven’t been implementing it.
He said: “The pressure on those surrounding politicians is often very very high indeed. The media intrusion on people’s lives is very high indeed.
“And the attacks that take place against family and loved ones of politicians continue and they are disgraceful and frankly they are disgusting.”

Reading through the Sun story, it looks like Corbyn is going to rediscover that quote by Tacitus:
“This is an unfair thing about war: victory is claimed by all, failure to one alone.”
Corbyn will be, like his beloved Soviet Union, tossed on the ash heap of history in short order. Now, the hard work begins, and that will be pulling the Britain out of the European Union. Thanks to the previous Prime Minister, Theresa May, it looks like this is going to be a “Hard exit” instead of the negotiated one that should have already happened.
May, apparently, was what they call a “Remainer” in that she didn’t want to pull out of the E.U. She completely botched everything which is why Boris Johnson was able to take over as Prime Minister. Now Johnson is going to have to “Put up or Shut up,” and do as he promised. This will mean working with President Trump to secure good trade deal beneficial to both nations, (But more so for the United States of course. Hey! I’m an American, not a globalist). With a little luck and a lot of hard work, hopefully Prime Minister Johnson will be putting the “Great” back into Great Britain.
