Loads of new user accounts?

Good morning, this is the Angry Systems Administrator. We’ve been seeing a rash of new user sign ups, but almost nothing showing up in postings.

Both the Angry Webmaster and I have been examining them, as well as the spam filters. We’re getting a lot of…well, I’m going to call it what it is. Crap. I am thinking of purging the lists of users.

The only problem with this is that I knew there are a few legitimate users in there. If I purge the lists, then people who come in and try to log in will find themselves locked out. The alternative is to just ignore this and monitor the spam traps.

A pondering I am doing.

Feel free to offer any thoughts on this. I know that other sights do purge the roles of there are no logins after a period of time.
