Good day all. With President* Bumbles Dementia basically out to lunch, it’s fallen to others to take the lead in aiding the Ukrainians in repelling the Russian invasion. In a surprise move, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has gone to Kyiv and met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

There have been a couple of other leaders from Europe who have visited with President Zelenskyy, however, Prime Minister Johnson can be considered a “Big Fish,” probably one step below the President of the United States. Here are the details from Newsmax:
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said during a visit to Kyiv on Saturday that countries supporting Ukraine following its invasion by Russia would continue to tighten the economic sanctions on Moscow.
“Together with our partners, we are going to ratchet up the economic pressure and we will continue to intensify, week by week, the sanctions on Russia,” Johnson said in comments to the media, standing alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Like Prime Minister Johnson or hate him, you have to respect his going into an active war zone where the Russians are actively trying to kill President Zelenskyy.
His visit to the Ukrainian capital was previously unannounced.
Do you really think that the Prime Minister’s security people are going to tell anyone outside of President Zelenskyy and one or two others that Boris Johnson was coming in? I have little doubt that Putin would have taken the opportunity to kill Johnson, “Accidentally” of course.
Johnson told Zelenskyy earlier in a private meeting that Britain would provide the country with 120 armored vehicles and new anti-ship missile systems.
Anti-ship missiles? I take it that the idea is for the Ukrainian’s to try and turn some of the Russian’s warships in the Black Sea into artificial reefs. I’m sure the armored vehicles will be simple enough for the Ukrainians to transition to from the crappy Russian gear they’ve been using. (Some of which has been delivered to them from the Russians by the 1st Ukrainian Farmers tank recovery brigade)
Johnson’s unannounced visit was announced as a “surprise” on social media. The photo from the Embassy of Ukraine to the U.K. read, “Surprise,” with a winking emoji.
“Boris Johnson’s visit in Kyiv began just now with a tete-a-tete meeting with President Zelenskyy,” presidential aide Andriy Sybiha wrote on Facebook, according to the Mail.
This is going to do much more than provide actual aid to the Ukrainians, it’s also going to provide a good boos to their morale. A major world leader coming in to speak with their leaders and offering both moral and actual support is going to play well.
U.K. security officials were “having kittens” about Johnson traveling to a war zone, an expression of concern for the safety of such a visit just weeks ago.
I suspect there are a few members of the SAS who are working with the Ukrainians to protect both leaders. Considering what we’ve seen of the quality of the Russian “Professionals,” if they had tried anything, I think the SAS would have made very short work of them.

Now I don’t pay to much attention to British politics, and I have little doubt that there are people who will say this all just for politics. This may very well be. I can’t recall any prime ministers other than Winston Churchill who was both ready and willing to head into a war zone. (Of course, Churchill was always an adventurer. He always relished being shot at..Without result of course) Love him or hate him, you have to award a few brownie points to Prime Minister Johnson for going to Kyiv.
