Greetings all, it’s the Angry Systems Administrator bringing you an update to our Bitcoin experiment.
So far it’s working as near as we can tell. We have Bitcoin generators running on this web site as well as local versions running on our systems in the office.
From what we can tell, we should have our first bitcoin sometime after the sun novas. Yes, it’s that slow. Most of our systems are older and the generators work best if they are accessing a video card GPU rather than a computer CPU.
I stuck a generator on Mrs. Webmaster’s laptop and it just crawled to the point that it really wasn’t worth the effort. Oddly enough, we have the Webmaster’s Real World Work laptop and a new desktop sitting around that are crunching through at a far higher rate.
Oh well, it’s not like this is something we’re going to get rich on, especially since the Feds will probably shut it down soon enough. (Damn bastards can’t tolerate anyone succeeding without them)
Meanwhile, we’re just going to leave them on for now. They don’t do any harm and who knows? It might actually work out!

A few weeks ago I downloaded a specialized program designed to mine Bitcoins from my computer. Sadly, I didn’t get a single one.Â
The Bitcoin community said that there are only so many Bitcoins available, and most of them have been mined already. People like me with only one computer will only mine a little percentage of a Bitcoin, while people with entire computer labs are mining the remaining Bitcoins.
The only way to get any reasonable amount of Bitcoins is to buy them with real money, but what’s the point of that? Might as well go back to working or running my own business.

Great News! Anger Central has generated its first Bitcoin! We now have 0.01 bitcoins available. We can all retire to the Bahamas now. 😉
