Welcome new American Citizens!

Greeting and salutations on this great day! Today is the 4th of July, the anniversary of America’s Declaration of Independence from England. Today is also another day of celebration for a number of other people.

These are America’s newest citizens. Today, around the country, legal resident aliens, more commonly known as green card holders took the oath and became Americans. Anger Central welcomes these fine new citizens and welcomes them to the greatest nation in history.

Now, as you may know, Mrs. Webmaster is a green card holder. She, like these fine new citizens, followed the laws of the Untied States and came into this country legally. I know how hard it is to accomplish this considering what we went through.

A number of our newest citizens are also serving members of the United States Military. In this case, we offer a “twofer.” A Welcome to America and Thank you for protecting us against our enemies.

There is an article on Fexnews.com titled:
A Fourth of July Tradition: Immigrants Around the Country Take the Oath of Citizenship

The Fourth of July weekend is a special time for Americans, with barbecues and fireworks in full effect across the country, commemorating the independence of our nation.

But for many residents, the holiday weekend holds a particularly special significance.

On Friday, National Guard member Paola Sánchez was one of 35 immigrants who were sworn in as United States citizens in a ceremony held at the historic Fraunces Tavern Museum in Manhattan’s Financial District in honor of Independence Day.

And I will not only shake your hand Ms. Sanchez, I will say Thank you for serving this country! I only wish I knew your rank so I could properly identify you as you so richly deserve.

“I am so grateful to this country because it helped give me a lot of opportunities that I didn’t have in my country,” said Sánchez, who emigrated from Colombia five years ago to study English, and who is expecting twin girls. “So it is very important to me to be an American.”

You take good care of those girls you’re expecting. One of them could be President of the United States in 40-50 years. 🙂

Sánchez said she is especially honored that her daughters will be born United States citizens because “that means that they are going to have all the opportunities that I didn’t have when I was in my country.”

And with a good, hard working mom who will no doubt raise them to be proud of their country, I am certain they will do great things.

The 35 new citizens ranged in age from 18 to 57, and hailed from the following 18 countries: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, The People’s Republic of China, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Germany, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Lebanon, Nigeria, Philippines, Russia, South Africa, St. Kitts-Nevis, United Kingdom, and Venezuela.

And now you see why America is called the “Great Melting Pot.” We take the best of all the other countries, melt them and their cultures into Americans. A nation of everyone.

More than 24,000 immigrants were slated to become U.S. citizens at approximately 350 ceremonies held across the country and around the world from June 27 to July 4, according to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

And I bid these fine people Welcome! Please feel free to vote in next election. You have earned that right. In fact, if you so chose, run for office. We need some new blood from people who have gone the extra mile, and all of you certainly qualify.
