Good day all. Last year, New York City Mayor Eric Adams basically turned on the Biden Maladministration when it came to handling all the illegal aliens being let into the United States. Since the Maladministration was well known for initiating Lawfare against it’s enemies, the Garland DoJ filed charges against Adams.

The charges were rather questionable, although I admit I didn’t follow the case much. The usual rigmarole regarding criminal cases began, then something that, at the time of Adam’s arrest, wasn’t foreseen. President Donald Trump was reelected to his second, nonconsecutive term of office.

Once President Trump took office and put his people into the DoJ, they began reviewing a lot of things that the ever so corrupt Merrick Garland had been up to. One of these was the charges against Eric Adams. The DoJ made a motion to dismiss the charges and last week, (April 2nd), the charges were dismissed, with prejudice. This means they can never be brought again. Here are the details from Fox News:
A judge on Wednesday dismissed the corruption indictment against New York City Mayor Eric Adams. U.S. District Judge Dale E. Ho of the Southern District of New York dismissed the case against Adams with prejudice, meaning it can’t be brought back again.
Now the reason for the initial charges, other then to punish some upstart, (Pick the liberal racial slur of your choice), local politician who dared question the actions of the Dear Dementia Leader, was that Adams had used his position to solicit illegal campaign contributions and luxury travel from foreign nationals from Turkey, businessmen and others.
As I recall, and this is from my Biden like memory, the whole thing was brought because of one of Adam’s people who may have actually done some crime and was looking to either get off or get a much lighter sentence. I don’t recall any actual evidence being presented. It seems that the Bondi DoJ took a fresh look at these charges and basically went “WTF?”
The DOJ, now under President Donald Trump, urged the judge to drop the case, but Ho said last month he would take time to consider the motion.
“The case against Eric Adams should have never been brought in the first place – and finally today that case is gone forever,” Adams’ attorney, Alex Spiro, said in a statement to Fox News. “From Day 1, the mayor has maintained his innocence and now justice for Eric Adams and New Yorkers has prevailed.”
Now one surprising thing was that in the initial request to have the charges dismissed, the DoJ lawyers did not ask for them to be done with prejudice.
The DOJ motion notably asked the judge to dismiss the case without prejudice, arguing that “continuing these proceedings would interfere with” the mayor’s ability to govern, thereby threatening “federal immigration initiatives and policies.”
However, the judge in the case decided that the case needed to go away completely.
“In light of DOJ’s rationales, dismissing the case without prejudice would create the unavoidable perception that the Mayor’s freedom depends on his ability to carry out the immigration enforcement priorities of the administration, and that he might be more beholden to the demands of the federal government than to the wishes of his own constituents,” Ho wrote in his decision Wednesday. “That appearance is inevitable, and it counsels in favor of dismissal with prejudice.”

Ho also pushed back on the Trump administration’s argument that the case had been tainted by “appearances of impropriety.”
“There is no evidence – zero – that they had any improper motives,” Ho wrote in defense of the prosecutors.
This is just another leftist judge from New York. I trust him about as far as I can throw the Empire State Building. I suspect that he was thinking that dismissing the charges with prejudice was a way to slap President Trump and AG Bondi. I don’t think it’s going to work out the way he intended.

In the mean time, Adams is preparing to run for reelection. However, he has a few issues with this, first among them, he is incompetent and almost as bad Bill de Blasio. When Adams was charged, the Democrat Elite in New York decided he was expendable, (After all, he isn’t actually “One of them” if you get my drift), and demanded he resign. Adams told them to take a long walk off a short pier into the East River. He is now planning to run as an independent. Here are those details from Fox News:
New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced he will run his re-election campaign as an independent instead of participating in the Democratic primary.
Adams told Politico on Monday that he wants to “mount a real independent campaign,” saying that the federal bribery charges, which have been dismissed, “handcuffed him.” The New York City Mayor said he’d be “uninhibited” while campaigning.
“I’m in the race to the end. I’m not running on the Democratic line. It’s just not realistic to turn around my numbers and to run a good campaign (from) where we are right now,” Adams said. “It hurts like hell.”
Basically, he’s figured out that the Democrat Party has decided he’s no longer useful and is throwing him to the wolves. Speaking of wolves.
Adams faces an uphill battle in his re-election campaign. Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on March 1 that he’d be running for New York City mayor.
If anyone belongs in prison, it’s Andrew Cuomo. I don’t need to go over the mass murder of elderly people his orders caused during the Great Panicdemic of 2020.
A Quinnipac University survey that was conducted just before and just after Cuomo announced his run for mayor found the former governor enjoying 31% support among New York City Democrats, while Adams garnered 11%. The same survey found Adams had a 20% approval rating.
I wonder if there is a way for both of them to lose?
Adams told the outlet that he would submit the required 3,750 signatures on May 27, which would put him on the ballot for November’s election.
Considering how the New York Election system is totally rigged, I would recommend that Adams submit a minimum of 10,000 signatures. Without question, the “Usual suspects” will find a way to declare all of the signatures invalid if they can.
“Now I need this runway until November to redefine and remind people: This is why you elected me in the first place,” Adams said.
They elected you because they thought you couldn’t be any worse then Bill de Blasio. You weren’t, but not by much. The simple fact is, you sucked as mayor. As for Andrew Cuomo? I expect the Democrat Elites will back him unless they can find someone better. I don’t expect a Republican to win for a very simple reason. Most of the people still in New York City Progressive sheep and can’t see just how bad things are. Those who did see what a disaster New York City and New York State have become have moved out.
Still, the best of luck to you. You managed to beat the rap. Now you need to convince the barking moonbats of New York City that you are one of them after all.
