Good day all. This is a breaking story. CBS has canceled Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show. The final broadcast will be in May 2026. From what I’ve heard, dozens of people are horrified at the news.
Now for the record, I’ve never watch The Late Show or Stephen Colbert. I can only go by what I’ve read and heard about him. What I’ve heard is that he is suffering from Stage Four Trump Derangement Syndrome. He has also blasted Paramount for settling with President Trump. Without question, the Leftards are going to scream that this was a political decision. However, The Late Show was simply costing more to make then it was bringing in so the axe fell. Here are the details from Fox News:
CBS will cancel “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in 2026, the network announced Thursday, insisting it’s a “financial decision” and has nothing to do with a looming ownership change.
“‘THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT’ will end its historic run in May 2026 at the end of the broadcast season,” CBS said in a statement. “We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire ‘THE LATE SHOW’ franchise at that time. We are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late night television.”
CBS said it was “purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night,” adding, “It is not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.”
Yeah, right. Granted, Colbert, like all the rest of the Moonbats on cable and over the air networks are hemorrhaging viewers and money. Advertisers are looking at how their very expensive ads are doing and asking some very pointed questions.
Then you do have the problem with these Stage 4 TDS sufferers saying things that are patently and provably untrue. ABC has already had to pay out $15 million because of George Stephanopoulos’s big mouth. (AOC may also be looking at a similar suit down the road for the same reason) CBS News and 60 Minutes just got slammed because they cooked an interview with Kamala Harris during the election to make her appear to be intelligent.
As you would expect, the Leftards aren’t happy with this and the “Usual Suspects” are demanding an investigation into the decision to cancel The Late Show. Here are those details from Fox News:
Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., said the public “deserves to know” whether CBS’s decision to cancel “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Thursday was politically motivated.
“Just finished taping with Stephen Colbert who announced his show was cancelled. If Paramount and CBS ended the Late Show for political reasons, the public deserves to know. And deserves better,” Schiff wrote.
Schiffhead is simply trying to divert attention from his own legal troubles. He’s looking at potential indictment for Mortgage Fraud.
Warren added, “CBS canceled Colbert’s show just THREE DAYS after Colbert called out CBS parent company Paramount for its $16M settlement with Trump – a deal that looks like bribery. America deserves to know if his show was canceled for political reasons. Watch and share his message.”
Elizabeth Warren, aka Lie-a-watha, aka Fauxahontas, aka Big Chief Sitting Bullshit still doesn’t understand that the Private Sector, in this case Paramount, can do whatever it wants with its property. If Paramount/Skydance canceled the show for political reasons, then so be it. You have no say in the matter.

I so believe that the main reason is that they are losing money on the show. Was there some motive to get rid of Colbert because of his attacks against Paramount’s decisions? Probably. Something the Left is rather good at doing is biting the hand that feeds them.
Several journalists and commentators have also speculated that CBS and Paramount’s recent lawsuit settlement with President Donald Trump earlier this month could create a “slippery slope” for news broadcasters.
Well of course there is a slippery slope. What those propagandists don’t seem to understand is that they are the ones that created it in the first place. There is a reason people refer to the “Legacy Media” as “Fake News.” They have been caught time and time again lying and making things up.
“The Late Show,” which Colbert took over from David Letterman in 2015, leaned into liberal politics in the Trump era and had became a major platform for Democratic politicians. Last month, Colbert welcomed New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani before the socialist hopeful clinched the Democratic nomination.
Leaned into it? Colbert and the staff jumped right into the arms of the hard left, anti-American views that, frankly, most Americans do not agree with. The result? Ratings started dropping and with that, ad revenue also started drying up. Colbert’s target “Audience” doesn’t spend money unless they have to. They prefer to get free stuff paid for by other people.
Now they are discovering Margaret Thatcher’s words of wisdom. “Eventually, you run out of other people’s money.” Colbert won’t be alone on the unemployment line. I suspect that most of the CBS News division and all of their late night programs are on the chopping block and we will be seeing more stories like this. Welcome to the real world.
