Good day all. There has been a low level debate on the continued membership of the United States in NATO. This started after the collapse of the Soviet Union. In President Trump’s first term, he was slamming NATO for not paying for their own defense.

When Dementia Joe Biden was installed into the White House after the Tainted Election of 2020, The Deep State helped start the Russian invasion of the Ukraine and saw this as a way to improve their bank accounts.

With the return of President Trump, and the demands of Eurostan that the United States censor people’s posts, more and more people are seriously asking why we are defending Europe, especially when they are sliding back into authoritarianism. This has started to cause the Eurotrash elite to actually start worrying that they might actually have to pay for their own defense. Now they are saying that World War Three is just around the corner. Here are the details from Newsmax:
NATO chief Mark Rutte on Thursday warned allies to prepare for another world war, saying Europe is “Russia’s next target.”

Now for those of you who don’t know who Mark Rutte is. He is Dutch and is the 14th Secretary General of NATO. Basically one of the Eurotrash Elites who think they should rule the world.
Speaking at a security event in Berlin, the secretary general painted a stark picture of the continent’s future, saying Russia could be ready to use force against NATO “within five years” and urging Europeans to “shift to a wartime mindset.”
He said allies must prepare for conflict on the scale their “grandparents or great-grandparents endured,” including mass mobilization and widespread destruction.
The Russia/Ukraine war has done a number of things. One was pretty much destroying the Russian military. We’ve known since the first Gulf War just how bad Russian tanks are compared to western designs, however, people like to chalk that up to Iraqi incompetence.
The Ukraine war put paid to that as the Federated States of Putin Russia has lost 4200 tanks confirmed visually as destroyed since the start of the war. (The true number is probably a lot higher) Russia can’t replace their armor loses and have started digging out and refurbishing tanks that were old when the USSR collapsed.
We’ve also seen how bad Russian logistics are and the Air Force has amounted to nothing. Russian tactics appear to have not changed since the Second World War with the estimated Russian KIA being over 250K with the wounded closing in on a million.

There is no way Russia is going to be able to rebuild enough in five years to be a threat to Europe, and Poland, which is becoming the Texas of Europe, has been getting rid of their old Soviet junk for modern western systems. Poland isn’t going to count on the Western Europeans and knows that the United States may not be able to help.
Rutte argued that Moscow’s full-scale war on Ukraine, backed by Chinese technology and Iranian and North Korean arms, proves the Kremlin is rebuilding an “empire” and sees free European societies as a threat.
First, Chinese tech has it’s own problems. Iran is supplying drones and North Korea has been supplying cannon fodder replacement troops. As to Europe being a group of Free nations? Well they sure aren’t acting like it. I won’t bother to go into the immigrant problems they’re now having.
He warned that if Russian President Vladimir Putin crushes Ukraine and reaches NATO’s borders, alliance members would face “a truly gargantuan” surge in defense costs and a far higher risk of direct attack.
That sounds an awful lot like they expect the United States to continue paying for Europe’s defense while the Eurotrash continue complaining about the United States doing American things. And if the United States should decide to pull out, or is busy elsewhere, Western Europe is screwed. (Eastern Europe, starting with Poland, is actively rebuilding their military forces and could, potentially, break a Russian attack)
Rutte hailed this year’s NATO summit in The Hague, where leaders agreed to drive total defense-related spending to 5% of GDP by 2035 — including 3.5% on core military outlays, far above the long-standing 2% benchmark.

For a lot of these deadbeat countries, even making it to 2% of GDP would be a first. The Newsmax article then goes into all the “Wonderful things Europe is doing” regarding their defense, they still won’t do what needs to be done. Cut back on the welfare, remove the illegals from their countries and start building their troop levels back to something more than the ceremonial guards they now have.
But while the NATO chief insists “the time for action is now,” his rhetoric will raise eyebrows among conservatives who see Europe’s elites again reaching for American firepower while asking voters at home to accept higher taxes, inflation and what Rutte openly calls “emergency budgets.”
In his speech, he acknowledged that such a buildup would mean painful trade-offs across domestic programs.
One of the problems is recruiting troops. There have been polls taken and it doesn’t bode well for Europe. Large numbers of respondents, and I can’t recall if it was a majority or not, flat out said they wouldn’t defend their countries or Europe. This has led to the various governments to start considering conscription again.
That will be very unpopular of course, especially if all the “Outs and dodges” that used to be in place are removed. (Things like being in college for 20 years, or doing community service instead) Another problem with conscript troops is that they are not as well trained as regular volunteer forces.
The United States military has been a volunteer force since the 70’s and when politicians aren’t doing WOKE DEI crap, generally meet their recruitment targets. Their terms of enlistment are generally much longer then a conscripts and they are a lot better trained. When American troops aren’t being hobbled by feckless politicians, they regularly kick ass and don’t bother taking names.
Right now, the United States is pivoting from Europe to the Pacific. We see China as being a true threat, (Which is sad since they really don’t need to be), and most Americans are really wondering if things kick off in Europe, should we bother with them for a third time, especially since the Europeans themselves don’t seem to want to defend themselves?
I used to be a big supporter of NATO, but I see it as having outlived it’s usefulness. We should help the countries like Poland who are taking their defenses seriously and write off Western Europe. Coming to the rescue of a bunch of spoiled, ungrateful losers is enough. If Russia wants Western Europe, they can have them. Just leave the Eastern Europeans, like Poland alone.

As the Russian military keeps declining and the Poles keep building up, it might become an issue of restraining the Poled from going East more than keeping the Russians from coming West.
Especially if China decides to settle some old grudges in the Far East Military District if they decide that taking Taiwan isn’t quite feasible, yet.
