Good day all, it’s the Angry Systems Administrator. Last month we turned on all the statistics generators available to Angy.net. Previously, we had them off due to space issues on the hosted server we use.
Since we upgraded to the Platinum level with Hosting Matters, we now have unlimited space and bandwidth. Our timing couldn’t have been better. I looked at our stats this morning, (October 1st), and was shocked at the traffic we had last month. Under our old plan, we would have used more than half our available bandwidth for the month. Our space usage has climbed a bit, however part of that is the statistic files being stored. The down side is the levels of spam coming in to our mail boxes has skyrocketed. 🙁
According to the stats, we had 30,429 unique visitors.
30K visitors? Whoa Nelly!
Most of the visitors were from the United States, which is to be expected. The European Union was next, (The .eu domain suffix), followed by several other European domains. There were a few surprises too. We had a number of visitors from China and Hong Kong, and quite a few from Pakistan. (Hmm, I wonder if this has anything to do with the Angry Webmaster blasting Pakistan a while back?)
The blog had the highest number of hits of course, since it tends to be updated more often than the main site. What was surprising, was that the third husbands page on the main site was number two.
I guess there are a lot of really pissed off wives out there. 😉
The other high traffic page was fat people. Considering the number of postings we get each week regarding the weight challenged, I’m not surprised. I’ve looked at some of the postings that come in and I’m not surprised that most get tossed into the bit bucket. The Angry Webmaster tends to wield the editing sword with abandon and most of them don’t make it online.
Another interesting statistic is the operating systems that hit the sites. The top of the line are the various versions of Windows, followed by the assorted versions of Windows and then Linux. There were a couple of surprises though. We had visits from people using Sony Playstations and the Nintendo Wii.
We also have stats on the various browsers that stopped by. This particular statistic must be taken with a grain of salt. It’s rather easy to mask what your browser is. However I was rather amused to see that the Android browser crushed the Iphone. The top browser was Internet Explorer, (No real surprise there) followed by Firefox and then Chrome. Safari was a close fourth, but Opera was basically an afterthought. It came in below the Android browser.
There are a bunch of other statistics that really don’t mean much. One thing that did cross my mind was the remarks of one of the ad aggregation services we used. They dropped us saying that we weren’t getting a lot of traffic. They obviously don’t know what they’re talking about.
So there you have it. Our first full month of statistics. I don’t know if I’ll make this a regular feature or not. If I do see a lot of growth or, **shudder**, a massive decrease, I will make note of it.
Thanks to all for aiding in our growth. Feel free to hit our tip jar and sends us cash. We like cash. 🙂

I’d like to see this as a regular feature.
I’ll see how it goes. I will say I’ve been surprised by the 1/3 increase in the last 2 months. It looks like we made the right decision to upgrade our hosting account.
