Iran, Obama, and Israel

For over 30 years, ever since our last failed president was in office, Iran has been threatening both Israel and the United States. For all intents and purposes, Iran has been in a war with the United States that we don’t want.

For the last 20 years Iran has been working to develop and deploy nuclear weapons. Because of what we would need to do to stop this, nothing has really been done. There have been a number of covert operations, the most recent being the killing of several Iranian nuclear scientists and the possible destruction of one of their critical facilities.

None of this has deterred Iran and now we have the most incompetent president in history in office at one of the most critical points in our history. Iran is now very close to being able to make atomic weapons, and they have stated flat out they will use them on Israel and the United States. Of course, no one in the parlors and board rooms of the Progressive Democrat Elite actually thinks Iran would do this.

Israel does believe it and is doing everything it can to thwart Iran. In the past, Iran attacked a reactor in Iraq just before Saddam Hussein started loading nuclear fuel into it. Israel was lambasted by the world political elites and the anti-Semites both in Europe and in the UN. President Reagan had to make “Official” noises about how this was bad, but behind closed doors he was quite satisfied.

This isn’t the case with Obama. He hates Israel and doesn’t think it should exist. He has all but destroyed out relationship with Israel, and has gone so far as to say that Israel should return to the indefensible 1967 borders. He utterly despises the current Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, especially since Netanyahu tore him a new one in the White House.

We have now reached the critical point with Iran. Once they have a demonstrated nuclear capability, our options become very narrow. Iran has threatened to close the Straits of Hormuz to all oil traffic, (Which would throw the world economy into utter chaos), and would no doubt start threatening the other nations in the middle east. There is also a religious overtone to all this as well. Most of the Arab people are Islamic Sunni ((Sunni Islam)) and Iran is Islamic Shia ((Shia Islam)). They don’t like each other in the way that Nazi’s and Jews don’t like each other. I’m not going to go into the differences between the two sects, I’ll let others better qualified do that.

If/when Iran develops and deploys nuclear weapons, among the first things they will probably do is try and destroy the House of Saud ((House of Saud)) and take over Arabia. They will want to control the cities of Mecca and Medina as well as the Saudi Arabian oil fields. If anyone doubts this, just listen to what they have been saying. They want to rebuild the Persian Empire ((Achaemenid Empire)) and extend it throughout the middle east and eventually, the entire world.

The Financial Times has an article titled “Obama nears his Nuclear Moment” and they go over what is happening.

At the start of Barack Obama’s term, few moments better crystallized America’s change of face than his “New Day” video address to the Iranian people. Ending with a salutation in Farsi, Mr Obama offered Iran a new era of “co-operation”. It followed from the promise in his inaugural address to “extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist”.

Yeah, that worked out about as well as all of Obama’s other plans. What would you expect from a community organizer who mastered the art of foreign policy at the International House of Pancakes?

Unhappily, Tehran has ignored Mr Obama’s overtures. Not only is Iran thought to be within striking distance of how Israel defines its “zone of immunity” – the point at which Iranian nuclear weapons capability is irreversible – it has also threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz. Nothing spells global recession faster than $200-a-barrel oil prices. And nothing will bring a colder sweat to Mr Obama’s electoral strategists than the thought of conflict with Iran. Yet that is what many in Washington are now calling a “probability”. Some White House officials have referred to 2012 as the “year of Iran”. It was supposed to be dominated by the US economy. Might it instead be the moment Mr Obama takes that 3am phone call?

And here we have the jist of the problem. Obama is only concerned with one thing. Barack Obama and getting a second term. He has never in his life had to deal with the real world and thinks that if he just lets his TelePrompTer talk to people, they will come around to his way of thinking. Obama’s incompetence is now starting to worry a lot of people. And speaking of competence in office:

Mr Netanyahu – Mr Obama’s least favourite foreign leader – visits Washington in two weeks. The build-up to his March 6 speech to the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee has brought a flurry of leaks that Israel’s fuse is shortening by the day. The zone of impunity is looming, people say. “Everything, from Iran’s nuclear timetable to Israel’s red lines, points to some kind of Iran reckoning before November,” says Mr Clemons. “It does not mean war necessarily, but the status quo cannot hold for long.”

The one thing Israel CAN NOT allow is a nuclear armed Iran. Israel is a small nation and is surrounded by nations that would like nothing better than to start up the “Final Solution ((Hitler’s Final Solution))” mark II. If they perfect nuclear weapons, and there’s no reason they can’t, the only thing that will stop Iran from using them is logistics. They will need to be able to get the weapons into Israel. Considering that the Iranian nutjobs running that asylum hate the United States as well, they will want to figure out a way to get some nukes here.

Once Iran is ready, (Or thinks they are), they will launch. Israel isn’t going to wait for that to happen no matter what the rest of the Progressive Elite wants. The first thing Israel is doing is deploying an ABM system.

From Breitbart.com:

The Israeli military will on Monday deploy a battery of rocket interceptors from its “Iron Dome ((Iron Dome Interceptors))” system in the Tel Aviv region, a military spokesman said on Sunday.

“Iron Dome is being incorporated into the heart of the Israeli military. As part of this process, the system is deployed in different sites and will be in the Gush Dan region (of Tel Aviv) in the coming days,” he said in a statement that clarified the deployment would begin on Monday.

This makes sense of course, however the Iron Dome system is not designed to go after IRBM’s ((Intermediate-range ballistic missile)) and ICBMs ((Intercontinental ballistic missile)). It’s designed to stop cheap unguided rockets such as the Katyusha ((Katyusha rocket launcher)) that the Palestinians like to shoot into Israel. For the IRBM’s that Iran is expected to fire at Israel, Iron Dome won’t cut it. The Israeli’s are working on an ABM system called Arrow ((Arrow ABM system)). They deployed an earlier version a few years ago and are working to deploy the Arrow 3 version.

While an ABM system is good, these missiles can be spoofed, malfunction or just plain miss. Israel can’t afford any nukes hitting them. The Iranians IRBM’s ((Shahab 3 Missile)) aren’t designed for counterforce strikes and they would target Israeli cities instead. If one or two warheads made it through the defenses, hundreds of thousands of Israelis would be killed and for all intents and purposes, Israel would be destroyed.

The flip side is, Israel won’t go down alone.

Israel has a nuclear weapons force, (Never acknowledged) that contains both atomic and hydrogen weapons. If Israel is hit, they will pretty much launch everything they have. They also won’t be all that discriminatory about their targets. Iran will be reduced to a pile of radioactive fallout, and the Israelis will also hit Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt and just about any other Arab nation that has pissed them off over the last 60+ years.

Iran has announced they are ready for “Talks” about their nuclear program, but most people with a functioning brain, (Which leaves out Liberals, Democrats and most Europeans), think this is just another Iranian stalling tactic. From the Financial Times Article:

Even if, as signalled last week, Iran is sincere in wanting to hold talks with the west, which would supplant war speculation for a while, Mr Obama’s Republican opponents will keep it on the front burner. On Wednesday they hold the first presidential debate in three weeks. As in previous ones, commercial breaks are likely to air a spot calling on Mr Obama to remove the MEK – the Mujahideen e-Khalq, the armed Iranian opposition group – from the US list of foreign terrorist organizacions.

The MEK ((People’s Mujahedin of Iran)) is group that wants to remove the Mullah’s now running Iran from power. However, they have been on the United States list of terrorist organizations for quite a while now. The group claims to have renounced violence and was disarmed after the United States invaded Iran. According to the BBC, they have adhered to a ceasefire.

They may have renounced terrorist attacks, but it does appear they have been working with the Israeli MOSSAD ((The Israeli Mossad)) to terminate several Iranian scientists. I don’t know if this is true or not, but it wouldn’t surprise me. Israel is not going to allow Iran nukes, and if they can get what they want with covert operations rather than an all out attack, they will use the MEK and anyone else that can get the job done.

Now one thing Obama has done is put sanctions with real teeth on Iran.

Beyond the often surreal quality of the domestic US debate on Iran, Mr Obama has in reality assembled the toughest sanctions the country has ever faced, which will only tighten as the year progresses. In July the US and Europe will impose a full embargo on Iranian oil.

The Iranians, in a typical “Cut my nose off to spite my face” move, have cut all oil sales to France and Great Britain. From Reuters:

Iran has stopped selling crude to British and French companies, the oil ministry said on Sunday, in a retaliatory measure against fresh EU sanctions on the Islamic state’s lifeblood, oil.

“Exporting crude to British and French companies has been stopped … we will sell our oil to new customers,” spokesman Alireza Nikzad was quoted as saying by the Ministry of Petroleum website.

Iran is starting to lash out now. They tried to assassinate several diplomats in Georgia, (The country, not the state) and India. They also made an attempt in Thailand that succeeded in blowing the legs off the Iranian bomber. A few months back the Federal Bureau of Investigation broke up an attempt by the Iranians to assassinate a Saudi prince.

Iran has been making threats that they will start a terror campaign in the United States, and now that the sanctions are beginning to really dig in, the likelihood that they might just try something here is increasing geometrically. All they have to do is succeed once, killing a lot of Americans, and in their minds they will have won. This is what scares the crap out of Obama.

When push comes to shove few can imagine Mr Obama ordering a strike on Iran, or giving the green light to Israel. The results could be disastrous and Mr Obama is not a reckless man.

No, he is a craven coward who only cares about himself. Do we really want Obama in office if that 3am call comes in?

I don’t!

Hopefully, Iran can be held at bay until Obama is unceremoniously retired in 2013.

Thatisall
